Angry Birds for Android downloaded over 30 million times

Gaming

Speaking at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this week, Rovio Mobile’s Peter Vesterbacka let it be known that his company’s wildly successful mobile game — Angry Birds — is quite popular amongst Android users. How popular you ask? The free, ad-supported version of the bird-flinging, pig pulverizing title has been downloaded over 30 million times. We would be interested to know how many ad impressions, and how much cash, Angry Birds generates every month. Congrats to Mr. Versterbacka and the Rovio team, your distain for swine has finally paid off.

Rovio released a statement a few month back saying they make over a million dollars per month on the Android version.

Guess how much they would have made without the iOS version bringing the attention first? That same dude thanked Apple basically for allowing apps like this to thrive.

      • Tim242

Dude, I couldn’t care less. I personally hate the game and think it’s
retarded and a waste of precious time. I was just pointing out the answer to
a question the writer asked. Get the apple out of your ass.

        Get the Apple (c)*

How does Apple relate to you, your life, or the comment you responded to? If Apple cures cancer it only benefits SHAREHOLDERS not gadget users.. If your’re really an Apple fan you better hope Google and MS eat into their share because everyone knows companies innovate the most out of necessity…

I wonder if the download count includes the android users who are constantly installing ROMs to make their devices run better, and that have not made back-ups. Also, I wonder if it counts the same person downloading it multiple times because they’re changing devices every three weeks because they need the greatest. Lastly, I wonder how many of those downloads were to devices that couldn’t or had trouble running angry birds.

What difference does that make? 30,000,000 is 30,000,000 either way.

I wonder why you iTurds have to make such lame excuses for Android’s success.

I wonder how many fruity hipsters jailbroke their iphone and stole it? Hmmm.. Brian??

  • Gabezermeno

Yeah… so how hard is it to make new levels? Seriously. I beat it so long ago and I need more levels

    • Anonymous

You didnt pay a dime for it and you want want. I’ve played 5 verizons of it cause I PAID for it. I swear you android users get stuff for free and cry. It like a person on welfare but its not enough.

      • thebigwinner

i’d pay for it if they offered it. i enjoyed your nonsensical welfare analogy, though.

      • sirpaul

They don’t offer paid ad-free version? I bought the iOS one and it’s taking forever to beat and get all the stars. Tons of levels.

Angry Bird is very good and attractive game, works fine with Xoom also..

  • http://twitter.com/Davva360 David Moore

That’s impressive but no surprise as it is the most addictive mobile game I ever played. I would like to know how many times it has been downloaded in total to all devices. I know it has been one of the most successful apps in iOS too.

P.S. Why does every article that mentions Android or iphone have to turn into a war. They are both great, if only one of them existed it would be no where near as good as it is today.

  • Mr.Right

It has so many downloads because it’s the only good game they have. Ha

Sad thing is all of the android developers will think they actually have a chance of making money in the current app market because of Angry Bird’s success. They continually fail to realize that Angry Bird was extremely popular long before arriving on Android…. silly DroidClowns!

    • RT

lol… still living in your fantasy world i see

  • Anonymous

I’ll gladly pay the 99 cents on iOS not to have ads all over my game. Sad they can’t sell it on Android market.

  • Anonymous

That’s cuz they are FREE to download. Who doesn’t like free android phones? Wait, I meant to say Android Angry Birds game for Android is free. Silly goofy me. Good thing I had $1.07 (NY) to purchase my iPhone Angry Birds game! Was about to run out of money. Phew! Android=CHEAP.

  • Cellularghost

Considering evey android phone needs to be factory reset darn near every week, this doesnt suprise me.

    • RT

thats funny, my evo hasnt needed one single factory reset in 9 months. However, my brother has replaced his iphone 3 times because the piece of shit cant stay connected to make a phone call.

    • Anonymous

Whaaat? That is bullshit.. you have NO clue what you are talking about… NICE try

    • chrisO
