Apple has sold 100 million iPhones, 15 million iPads

Breaking

Apple’s media event has kicked off as planned, and the company announced that it has shipped over 100 million iPhones. CEO Steve Jobs also noted that the company has shipped over 15 million iPad tablets — more than every other consumer tablet combined, ever. Apple’s iPhone, which launched in 2007, was the company’s first iOS device. Since its launch, devices like the iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch have made the platform one of the most popular mobile OSes in the world.

    “Filed Under: Breaking”

    BGR writes about how many phones Apple has sold over the last 4 years, and it’s filed under “Breaking”?!?! Why is this an article, much less “breaking news”?

    Steve Jobs just said they have shipped 100 million iPhones and sold 15 million iPads.

    droid doesn’t!

    I already posted this comment earlier, but it was mysteriously erased by the Apple-loving BGR website:

    “So, BGR finds it necessary to write about Apple sales over the span of 4 years. This shouldn’t even be an article, much less ‘Breaking News’.”

      This news just broke at the press conference. Sales milestones for one of the dominant phone makers and the dominant tablet manufacturer are newsworthy. Ignore Apple posts if you are offended by these facts.

    @bigbudha Droid never did!!

    Droid doesnt huh? HAHAHA At the current rate, ANDROID (not Droid) will sell 100 million sets in about 273 days,.,..Not to mention what it sold in the LAST 273 days…
    100 million is a big number… Just take it in perspective…

    A little perspective?
    Nokia = ~110M/year = ~400M in same time frame
    Android = ~67M for 2010 alone

    By all the hype around the iPhone one would have thought they would have sold a lot more than that. Now consider how many iPhone users constantly upgrade to each new version (4 version) and we have a base of ~30M actual users.
