Steve Jobs to take stage in San Francisco tomorrow?

Rumor

According to the latest rumor, Apple CEO Steve Jobs will take the stage at the Yerba Buena Center tomorrow during his company’s highly anticipated iPad 2 event in San Francisco. Italian blog setteB.IT first reported that “reassuring information,” from an unnamed source indicated that Mr. Jobs will (in some capacity) help unveil Apple’s next iPad model. Several hours later, AllThingsD‘s Kara Swisher chimed in with a similar prognostication, writing that Steve Jobs is “definitely considering an appearance at its big iPad 2 event tomorrow.” The event kicks off tomorrow at 1:00PM ET (10:00AM PT). Be sure to keep it locked on BGR we’ll be bringing you all the news as it happens.

    First!

      Definition of “First!”:
Apparently sought after position of being the first person to write on an online comment section, only to use the opportunity to write “first.”
Mike: “Yeah bro, I totally wrote first on that article.”

Allen: “Thats not douchey at all.”

iPad 2 is gonna blow the competition out of the water. Android’s gonna have to pick up it’s balls and forget about the tablet market for a while! Well the xoom is better than the playbill any day!

Fan boy much? Apple has some serious work to do if they want to have a better tablet then the Xoom. Granted I own neither and am considering picking up the iPad 2 for the sole purpose of the easy syncing and a few apps. The Xoom will likely still be a better tablet in terms of hardware and software, Honeycomb is amazing.

Hardware like the volume buttons that are hard to use and the power button on the back side of the device? Maybe the plastic casing?

And software like the buggy and complicated Android 3.0?

      • Anonymous

Funny part is, you’ve probably never even seen one in person.

If you find Honeycomb in any way “complicated” you shouldn’t be using a computer or driving a car.

And how in any stretch of the imagination are the volume keys “hard” to use? Up is louder, down is quietier. Pretty simple.

The Power button on the back is only confusing the first time you pick it up, after that you…GASP know where it is already.

If you want to bash the Xoom, bash how rushed and unfinished it is. Unsported SD slot, still no legal way to watch movies/TV, no flash, 4G upgrade that requires it being sent out… but all that would require you being an educated consumer, which you obviously are not.

@Wildkatct, steven75 likes his OS systems to be 20 evenly spaced icons. Anything beyond that is too complicated.

I’m no fanboy but honeycomb still has a long way to go before it matches the level maturity as iOS, granted the xoom is great… People will always go for the user friendly device, which in turn will boost sales showing again why the iPad is still dominant in the tablet game!

the ferrari F40 is the better car in terms of everything compared to the car i actually own but its just a teensy bit out of my price range.

      • Romi C87

The irony is you wouldn’t know how to operate a Ferrari even if u had one, my point is people choose the iPad cause of ease of use, not just the price, that’s an added bonus…. I’ve played with the xoom great unit, still to this day no android scrolls as fluid as iOS. Period.

This article reminds me of the old adage, “All questions posed by headlines can be answered with the word, ‘No.’ ” ;o)

While it’s not IMPOSSIBLE that Steve could make an appearance—he is still alive, as far as we know—it would mean an end to his self-imposed leave of absence, which in itself would be bigger news (at least for the stock price) than any new iPod to be announced. I don’t think Steve or Apple would do that.

The rumors are probably being floated to drive interest in the announcement, but the odds of Steve actually appearing are, IMO, very VERY low.

I hope Steve is there and that he feels better.

Also hope that the specs are a great improvement and that the price is either the same or lower.

Whatever Apple does the others have to compete if they want a piece of the tablet market. Not just on specs but on price too. That benefits us all.

Absolutely. I’m no apple tool, but I wish the best for Steve Jobs and I appreciate the push that apple gives the industry. It has definitely sped up the development and adoption of newer technologies and applications in terms of the entire industry. That’s good for everyone.

I read that Jobs had only a few weeks to live. Maybe the reports were wrong and his is getting better.

The lighter but solid build product will win. My coworker who is a Desktop user primarily loves the portability of the IPAD. He takes it grocery shopping and his kids love watching movies on it. This war will be won with who can provide adequate content (APP’s/Media Outlets/ Comcast/Directv/Netflix/Hulu etc) At the same time not compromising on battery life, weight and our “BUDGETS”…lol I really dont see how you can compete with a rumored 500$ IPAD2 or even the forthcoming 399$ IPAD. Apple partnered with Samsung and their Amoled technology so we all know the IPAD3 will have the same specs but with better outdoor graphics and new OS upgrades. I think APPLE really understands content so it will be at least another year before the competition can catch up. The moment we can receive phone calls on these devices will be an interesting milestone in itself. #TeamTablet

Not for us Goofans (aka Apple Haters!) We will NEVER EVER buy or touch (other than to destroy/burn) an Apple product because we are convinced it’s trash and because we don’t want to be called iSheep. We want to be called Goosheep and Goofans! Sounds much better than iSheep.

      • Anonymous

I’m any fan of cheaper prices with a quality product. Competition wins
in this WAR. The more the better! RIM/HP/APPLE/Google Let them all
fight it out. The prices will drop eventually.
