Microsoft to demo Windows 8 tablet in June, report claims

According to an unconfirmed report on Monday, Microsoft has plans to give the world its first glimpse of Windows 8 for tablets this summer. Citing an unnamed source at Microsoft, Business Insider claims the company hopes to at least show off the new operating system’s design by the end of its fiscal year in June. The report says Microsoft will be “taking a more Apple-like approach to interface deign this time around,” and will also use concepts from Windows Phone 7′s Metro UI. Generally, the Metro UI design couldn’t be any further from Apple’s approach with iOS or OS X, so it will be interesting to see which elements of each philosophy make it to Windows 8 if this report is accurate. Microsoft has not given any specific timeline as far as when it might publicly demo Windows 8.

I just want a Tablet that can run Windows programs. I don’t want these dumbed down apps, I want to run full blown windows programs!

      HP Slate for you!

Get a full blown computer then. Because what your looking for will never be on a tablet. Full programs require power that will not be on a tablet for long long time.

Your SO WRONG! dual core atoms will be in tablets….and PHONES!

PS. Even w/o the atom, snapdragon and iphone4 cpu’s could easily run MS Office.

I’d be happy if it ran them too. I’m not sure I’d need full blown Office in there but I certainly do not want to have to go out and buy a new set of propgrams with which I am unfamiliar.

For me, If it ain’t Windows, then I don;t wanna know on anythng that has a screen bigger than a cell phone — even then…

I want a tablet that works! No more sluggish processors. I want video to flow. Webpages to scroll. No more dinky atom x86 processors.

No more fans. 10 hour battery life. Weigh 1pound. Apps designed specifically for touch!

You want full blown windows applications? There is no way the trAdeoffs are worth those legacy applications. With the price if new apps being what they are, it is easier to find an iOS substitute.

But iOS substitutes are worth $0.99 where as full blown Windows and OSX programs are worth $49+. With Photoshop, I get what I pay for. There is NOTHING on iOS that can do 1/100th of what Photoshop can do. So yes, I do want full blown applications!

the biggest fucking train wreck…I see new CEO

Exactly. They are like nokia. Instead of assigning 1000 engineers to their Metro OS they rather put realizes in their past success.

Imagine what metro would look like if they updated more frequently. It’s almost like they want their own products to fail so they can run back to tried and true and mediocrity.

They need to pu those engineers on metro under a new ui designer. Make the transitions in metro faster.
Introduce More visual elements. Do something about the consistency of the scrolling too. If I’m scrolling vertical on the tiles then make scroll down for apps. Don’t have different scroll directions for the same layer within the OS unless specifically signalling to the user beforehand
