HTC ThunderBolt launch next week further supported by Best Buy store’s claim

mobile

Following our report from Thursday morning suggesting Verizon Wireless is preparing to launch the HTC ThunderBolt next week, an earlier tweet from a California Best Buy store may confirm the device’s launch timing. A Roseville California store tweeted on Wednesday that the “HTC Thunderbolt launch has been delayed :( It looks like it may launch on Thursday, March 4th. Stay tuned for more info.” In line with our earlier report, there is still confusion as to the exact date of the supposed launch, since the tweet mentions March 4th but it incorrectly calls it a Thursday. As such, it looks like the highly anticipated Android phone could launch on Thursday March 3rd, or Friday March 4th. The Roseville Best Buy location has since deleted the aforementioned post from its Twitter account.

Bgr I think your a little late on this one. And who can trust BB anymore. they keep throwing inconsistent dates at us. It’s because of BB this whole thing is out of control.

If it doesn’t come out on March 4th (or, 3rd) I am going to get a Blackberry (with a track ball) and ‘RIM’ out!

BTW, this exact story was posted on http://www.androidmsg.com/; if you click on the story header it redirects you to BGR? Any relation BGR???

Hey, you know you can go click the disqus link at the bottom of the page and see all responses to your comments, and respond to people when there is not an option here because it is already 4 replies deep.
Just saying, I think a couple of my replies to you have gone by the wayside.

Do we really know for sure if this Best Buy store that actually has a Twitter account is for real? Who at this particular store is posting comments anyway? I think it’s someone who is having fun with all the tech news providers such as BGR.

If it doesn’t launch on the 4th, I will do something stupid, may be I will just go to Sprint and get the EVO 4g, umm, now what phone looks like the EVO 4G?
How about the HTC Thunderbolt for Verizon. Oh that’s right, it hasn’t came out yet.

Further proof that poor iPhone sales are hurting Verizon. Need to push back any new releases until sales meet the minimum requirement per Apple’s contract otherwise Big Red eats the losses. Should have never made a deal with the devil.

I went to a BB and Verizon store today. The VZ Store said they had no idea of release date but did try to sell me a Xoom and the BB store rep laughed and said most likely 3/8/11, He had that, man your guess is as good as mine look on his face. VZ has dropped the ball on this release.

The deleted the post after I called the manager who reaped the date was wrong…. btw.

It’s on Friday the 4th. Also, the Thunderbolt (and Bionic) will support Simultaneous Voice and Data on both 4G and 3G. This is possible because there are two radios in these units – an IS-95/1x/EVDO radio and an LTE/EVDO radio. They are capable of running simultaneously. So, there you go.

A new leaked BBY screenshot shows 3/10 as the realease date! Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse. I think it’s because their iphone sales sucked so bad. Apple wanted a month. The 3/03 and 3/04 dates line up with iphone presales date. The new date of 3/10 lines up a month past actual release.

I’m curious will the Thunderbolt be launched as a useful handset or will its functionality be crippled by the carriers to the point users will be forced to root it and thereby voiding the warranty?
