Apple finally GMs iOS 4.3, build 8F190?

Exclusive

One of our Apple sources has just informed us that it looks like Apple has finalized the code for its upcoming iOS 4.3 release. The build, we’re told, is 8F190 for those keeping track. Maybe we’ll see this release unify the Verizon iPhone OS-wise as well? We’ll probably see this in the wild next week if we had to bet…

Who cares, it will just make our iPhones slow. Dam you apple.

If you have an iPhone 3G, you won’t be able to install this anyway. If you have a 3Gs, the latest update didn’t slow it down at all, so I’m assuming you have a 3G. “Dam you apple”? What? Are you going to construct some kind of wall around apple to keep the water in? Or are you trying to defend your apple from the river like Scrat defends his acorn?

        Dam Apple!

The last iOS update killed my 3GSs battery life – maybe this will fix it. iOS 4.0 was perfect, not sure what happened in the next update. Everyone I talk to says battery life is fine.

iPhone 3G has still been receiving all the 4.2.1 updates etc.. whats to say it won’t get 4.3

But yeah, doesn’t stop it being slow as shit, I’ll be ditching mine for the next one if it’s decent, or the current epic Android device at the time if I’m not sufficiently impressed.

Easy. Apple has never released a 4.3 beta for iPhone 3G. Their developer site has beta downloads for: iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4th gen, and iPod touch 3rd gen. Notice that iPhone 3G and iPod 2nd gen is missing all together. The only reason for this is A) They feel the 3G will work perfectly and doesn’t require any testing whatsoever, B) They are going to develop the 3G version separate from the others, C) It was an error on Apple’s part to leave out not only the 3G but iPod touch 2nd generation, or D) They have dropped support for 3G, iPod touch 2nd gen, and anything before that.

Now what do you think the reason for the absence is? I am willing to put money behind D) myself. I don’t know about you. Also, you can’t expect ANY modern operating system to run on something 3 generations behind. Windows 7 sure as hell doesn’t run well on my old Gateway, and I wouldn’t expect it to.

if u have an iPhone 3G its about freakin time u get a new phone, cheap a$$

      • sirpaul

I may be missing something, but how do you know he has a 3G?

      • numetheus

It’s a good assumption based on LOTS of reports that 4.2.1 was the same or faster on the 3Gs, and that there were LOTS of complains about it installed on the 3G. I have not met one person yet that thought 4.2.1 made their 3Gs slow.

jailbreak and download the multi tasking tweak that disables it. Should free up ram and make it faster again. the new custom background feature kills battery and ram too.

BGR what ever happened to the diverse articles in this site? you talk about Apple so much that its sickening. please bring back the Original BGR. if not then you should change the website to AGR ( Apple Genius Reports )

    • opiapr

      Deal with it.

      • http://twitter.com/mistercarter7 Mike Gonzalez

        preach!

    • numetheus

All the the tech blogs talk a lot about Apple. Why? Because there is a lot of apple news out there! Should BGR choose to disregard a lot of news to write articles about because SOME people don’t like to read about it? I’m a tech geek and love tech gadgets. It doesn’t matter if it’s Apple or the guy next door building an Arduino door knocker. The moment blogs start disregarding news for the simple sake of not sounding bias, is the moment I stop reading the site for not being a real tech blog. Or … is it because you would RATHER this blog be an Android blog because you clearly have a bias? And no … I’m not an Apple fanboy. I rock an iPhone and Blackberry … soon to get an Atrix. I just love gadgets.

      • Anonymous

Errr dude he never mentioned Android.

      • numetheus

Lots on here assume if you have an iPhone that you are an Apple fanboy … dumb sheep drinking the cool-aid. Why? Because there are lots that fit that category. Likewise, I assume most that whine and complain that all of these blogs are Apple bias (people say that about all blogs … engadget, giz, bgr, etc) are Android douchebags. Why? Because there are lots that fit that category. I have an iPhone so people assume I’m an Apple fanboy. I am a tech gadget lover and am not bias at all .. soon to have an Atrix along with my Blackberry work phone.

So yeah, he doesn’t have to mention he is using Android. It is a digital Internet stereotype. Is that wrong? No … it’s human nature to put things into categories. You stereotype people too. Everyone does.

Apple genius is his work title position for Apple, it would be a lawsuit waiting to happen. “The Genuis Bar” is his day time job.

Instead of childish meaningless comments by apparent teenager, I wish someone who is knowledgeable on the subject would explain the features or the advantages (and disadvantage if any) of such software. Will it for example provide the flash capability to play .flv? what will it offer and what does it mean to the averatge 3GS which presents 80% of ipone users?

    • Anonymous

Verizon doesn’t carry the 3GS so no one really cares.

    • dagamer34

Even the Atrix 4G with a dual core 1Ghz processor doesn’t handle Flash that well. I’ll leave it for desktops.

    • Malhaar

Hey, i am using 4.3b3 battery is quite developed, reception also, all the docs gets in a common folder called documents.. Many more developments, atleast too much better than 4.2.1..

  • Anonymous

Does this mean the GM will be out today?

  • Davva360

As an owner of an Apple TV I am interested in the new airplay features. My guess is it will release on March 2nd as part of the iPad 2 event.

  • Fastwalking

Um, who cares – there is really nothing added by this unless you own Apple TV. This is nothing.

  • Nusrat Rahman

I heard the iPhone 3G is getting a Froyo update from APPLE!

  • http://twitter.com/skreekia david

hey BGR where is your new precious Apple Iphone article. you know which one? yeah the one that Consumer Reports says the new Iphone from Verizon has the same death grip problem, and pending the way you hold the phone reception is dramatically reduced causing calls to drop…. ( Verizon Iphone ” can you here me now” umm nope i dropped my call cuz i held it ) lol…

  • Louis

By GM, they mean available for developers to test with and submit fixed apps. Usually 1-2 weeks later, the build is released through iTunes to everyone. Likely means either the new iPads will be released next week with 4.3 pre-installed and Apple is confident apps will run without hassles, or it will release with 4.2, or … The most realistic option, the iPad will be available “later this month”.

  • VBVAGUY

I have an iPhone 3G and the last update did not slow my phone down. I will perform a BACKUP as always before updating to this on my iPhone 3G.

  • radicalipodtouch

So it’s coming out today the GM
