Sprint: Froyo coming to the Samsung Epic 4G on February 21st

Software

Fear not Epic 4G owners, Sprint has not forsaken thee. Via the company’s community site, Sprint has announced that the Samsung Epic 4G will be updated to Android 2.2 (Froyo) starting on February 21st β€” just like we reported on Thursday. The post also notes that “All users should have access to Android 2.2 by Feb. 25,” in case you don’t see it right away. Great news for Epic 4G owners. Now, is it too early to start nagging Samsung for an Android 2.3 update?

Thanks, Jim S.!

No, actually, it was Sprint holding it up. Samsung was ready months ago.

This is the problem with android. The lottery of when you will get an update to latest version of android and the constant wonder when the manufacturer no longer will care enough to bother updating your phone. You may hate apple, but at least you know you will get 2yrs of updates to your iphone.

Let’s hope manufacturers free android so users can upgrade without them (please don’t tell me about some funky rooting technique I can do).

What you can do is buy a phone for what it can do now, not what it may or may not do later. Keep in mind that apple updates consist of giving you features that you should have had already.

Good job to the Epic owners

Finally Sprint & Samsung will be bringing Froyo to the Epic users

Unfortunately, it’s a bit too late

One of the reasons why I will no longer own a Android phone
Proud new owner of the iPhone 4

The freaking Fascinate has been plagued with so many issues

Verizon/Samsung release a crappy ass update (keep in mind its not froyo) to correct the GPS (among other things) but it manage to make matters worst

Now that the Vibrate and Epic have/will receive 2.2, it’s already outdated with Android 2.3 out

    Never ending cycle

Enjoy your lack of customizations, features, and tiny screen. Hey, it’s not all bad though. You can be a kid forever with all the great new games. You never have to grow up!
