HTC Inspire 4G as low as $59.99 from Amazon

mobile

AT&T is hitting the market aggressively with Android this year — for obvious reasons — and with deals like this one from AmazonWireless, AT&T subscribers are going to have an easy time moving over to the Android platform. Amazon is now offering the recently released HTC Inspire 4G at the incredibly reasonable price of $69.99 for current AT&T subscribers and $59.99 for new customers. The online retail giant is also offering free two-day shipping. No expiration is listed for for the deal, though it is possible that this is a limited time offer. The HTC Inspire 4G is an Android 2.2 phone that features a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 768MB of RAM and an 8-megapixel camera.

You get what you pay for.

So anyone know what AT&T is planning on charging for 4G data service?

    • Anonymous

the real question is What are they going to be charging for their “Other” 4G (LTE) when they start rolling out in the Fall…. I’m just going to assume they’ll charge 3G pricing for HSPA+ to make it an advertising plus.

      • Scott

You are correct, any HSPA+ “4G” phone has the same price plans as the 3G. Also, if you’re grandfathered into unlimited data, you can keep it

Didn’t Sprint have to up their data plan prices across the board due to 4G? Something to do to some people having a 4G capable phone, which you have to pay for 4G service, but not being in a 4G capable service area. I’m assuming AT&T and Verizon will be stuck with the same issue.

4G capable phone = higher priced data plan
Some people can’t get 4G in their area and want a refund or something
Carrier says screw it and increases cost of ALL data plans.
        We all get screwed.

I for one am more than happy wit the data speed on 3G.

there is an article on popsci that basically bashes at&t for having a 4g phone without 4g service.
    makes you really dislike at&t

article title on popsci is “Testing the Goods: HTC’s Inspire 4G* (And That’s a Huge Asterisk)” if anybody wants to read it

I would agree with you 100%; it really should be called 3.5G. But, with T-Mobile calling their HSPA+ 4G, the average idiot consumer would think, ‘Oh, T-Mobile is better’ if AT&T didn’t keep up, marketing-wise.

Also, I looked last night and the pricing was also $70 on the Premier site. Was about to order one when I remembered that the battery life is even worse than my stupid Captivate. I was going to get an Atrix, but I really want a bigger screen. 4″ is just too small. The Dell Streak dropping to $50 yesterday made my decision for me! My wife has the Streak and it just runs circles around the Captivate.

I purchased this on Sunday. Just average usage on this device will get me through the entire day with no problem. But if you are streaming music and watching videos all day then you are going to need to charge it. No big deal if I need a charge I have one at home, car and at work. Love this 4.3 display.

I took the phone off charge this morning at 7:30 and after making a few phone calls and txt messages and emails I am at 73% battery

      • http://floydnoel.info johnny.deathmatch

I’m sure for most people it’s fine, but the Captivate has a bigger battery and it still dies on me in a matter of hours. Average use for me is heavy web browsing for 2-3 out of every 5 hours, plus frequent calls/texts, Pandora streaming and occasional videos on YouTube, etc (which I would do a lot more of if the battery didn’t die so quickly). The Captivate and Inspire look like they have a comparable battery life, which is just too short for me. One of the reasons that got me interested it the Atrix (dual cores means lower power consumption, plus a 1930mAH battery), but after seeing the battery life on the Streak, I’m really impressed.

    Uninspiring

It’s worth noting that the $30 discount relevant to AT&T’s pricing comes with an additional $250 termination fee if the contract is terminated within 181 days. That could be relevant to enough people who read tech blogs to be worth noting. Amazon’s discounts come with a bit of a bite.

      Wow that’s a harsh ETF!

    • Scorp

Yeah it’s always like that when you buy from places like Amazon, wirefly or letstalk. They provide phones at dirt cheap prices but their terms say you cannot remove the device off the line or change anything in the plan when you purchased the phone within 6 months. I’ve heard some that did it no problems and heard other that didn’t know and got charged the extra money from wirefly. It’s really not something someone should do that loves to buy and change devices frequently.

      • Anonymous

Exactly. I wish tech blogs would mention that when posting all these great deals from Amazon or other similar vendors; most of them act like there’s no reason anyone would ever order from the carrier given these deals, but for those of us who are prone to switching out phones often, there is.

      • Huzzah

Scorp exaggerates a little bit. The extra ETF is tied to the extra phone discount, which is tied to the commission the carrier pays to Wirefly, which the carrier will revoke if you cancel within six months, or if you downgrade to a rate plan priced lower than the one that was required at time of purchase. So it’s not “if you change anything in the plan” — at least not at Wirefly. For example, Wirefly doesn’t offer upgrades on rate plans priced below $50/month. So if you upgrade to an unlimited plan, then immediately switch to a $40/mo plan, you are violating their ETF. But if you swith from an unlimited plan to a 1400 minunte plan, nobody cares. I’ve ordered my last several phones from Wirefly, and never had an issue changing plans and features, you just have to know what you signed up for.

I think the best middle-ground that I’ve found is Best Buy. They seem to always be cheaper (than AT&T, at least) by about $50, and sometimes they throw in discounts or you can use coupons. Plus, there’s always RewardZone.

      • Anonymous

I like Best Buy as well. They’re usually as cheap as Verizon would be after mail-in rebates and their return policy is better (no restocking fee!).

  • Scorp

Another poor battery life Android now available on a fake 4G network. No thanks.

    • Schitzengigles

Another douche steve jobs drone got out and is spewing an “opinion”

      • Scorp

How about actually trying to challenge what I said and not insult. Maybe because I’m right.

      • Scotty

Ok compare this to the iPhone (FAKE MULTITASKING) you will get better battery life out of it. If you want a phone that has all the perks you have to sacrifice somewhere and this case it is the battery.

So unless you have an Inspire with real life experience between the 2 then you cant just say here is another poor battery life android. But this is just conjecture.

      • Sergio

I have the Inspire and love the phone but have to admit Scorp is right… battery life sucks. My wife has the iPhone 4 and battery life is much better (but then it has a smaller screen and no real multi-tasking either).

  • Anonymous

You see? You could NEVER EVER do this with the iPhone. Simply because no one would buy it. Only Android has the capability of giving the phones at 1 penny. That’s the power of freedom and openness.

    • Yellowbird_86

How does the open source Eco system of android have anything to do with how much a company discounts or subsidizes a device? You don’t know what your talking about

      • Anonymous

Well for one…..the manufacturer doesn’t have to pay anyone to use the OS, thus resulting in cheaper costs in making phones.

Seems quite obvious if you ask me….

  • droidrules

Where is the BGR review of this device????

  • Cer

So this is pretty much the Thunderbolt except that it doesn’t have LTE, a front facing camera, and a 32 gb microsd card?

    • http://htcusers.com ADAMANTIUM

      Yup, that’s pretty much it.

  • Ptko15

It is for 49.99 at Costco…

    • Ptko15

And no extra etf’s from Costco…

  • Mossaire3

you cannot keep your unlimited data if you upgrade at amazonwireless, wirefly or letstalk. try it go to amazon. even before you give them and specific account information they tell you right there. i called them and they told me the same thing ” we understand you have the unlimited data, but it’s not in our system.”
