LG Optimus 3D hands-on [video]

Today is officially the first day of Mobile World Congress and for our first stop on the show floor, we decided to hit up LG (great booth placement, right by the entrance). LG had a host of goodies to showcase, but the device we decided to spend the most time with was the company’s yet-to-be-released smartphone, the Optimus 3D. The new, Android 2.2 handset boasts a 4.3-inch, 3D screen that does not require glasses and, to be honest, looks quite nice. The device features a dedicated 3D button which will bring you to LG’s 3D-interface — giving you access to the camera and guide along with all the 3D content on the device.     *SIGH* i already dont see the point in 3D TVs, so how will i ever see the point in 3D for a cell phone? *SIGH* will i ever see the point? I guess 3D for me will just be a “if its there ill take it,” but ill never buy something specifically for 3D. *SIGH* why cant i see the point of 3D in a cell phone?

      yeah, lets get a 3rd rate cell provider to try to get one of the hottest phones! t-mobile customers are people who cant afford decent cell service on verizon or at&t, they won’t shell out $150+ for a phone of this caliber

        Verizon is great if you can put up with the slowest DL speeds. They are a joke, I live in Boston and my DL speeds were around 550kbps Max. That 3rd rate cell provider you call them are putting out over 6 MBPS on the DL and a very strong 1.5 MBPS UL. That is on my Nexus One. My MyTouch 4G is getting over 8.5 MB on the DL and the same 1.5 UL. Those speeds are during peek hours in my office in brick building. Not too Shabby for a 3rd rate cell company. Verizon couldn’t touch that.

        Or you could upgrade from VZW’s 6 year old EVDO technology to their “version” of 4G and get double those “blazing” speeds T-Mo gives you.

        It’s like saying Sprint’s DO is so much faster than AT&T’s EDGE…..

        That 3rd rate provider already got the LG Optimus 2X (which is extremely similar). Cost conscious consumers (alliteration much?) aren’t necessarily poor. Dell Venue Pro, Dell Venue Android, HD7, GalaxyS 4G, and Optimus 2X, NexusS, and LG G-Slate aren’t cheap by any means.

    I think lg is moving to quick for the market. Android can’t get there app store to match all these different phones Verisions of os. Now this 3D thing. Its a big gimmick I think and ppl will fall for it.

      How about 17 photos and a 3 minute video and still no shot of the back of the device.
      Does it have dual cameras like the G-Slate to record in 3D? Who knows?! Not BGR…
      (I expected so much better from you guys!)

    One of the things is that Apple has brand recognition and all these other devices will devour each other. General consumers still don’t know what the hell Android is. This tablets will sell a nice number but then they’ll fade until their manufacturer releases another one while Apple will sell a million of their device by release day.

    Apple IMO is the same stagnant phone it was 3 years ago. What other platform can you run so many different roms from? Not Apple. You must get a note from Stevey boy Jobs. Apple is old news, Android has moved so far ahead of Apple and Windows, just turn on a new Android device, flash a custom rom, do what you want to do to your device, that is Android. Root it my friends, just root it.
