Apple said to be testing three iPhone 5 models, including one with a slide-out keyboard

Good for them if they make more than one iPhone. Android users are smitten with both. Some like keyboards…some hate ‘em. Let’s all enjoy the crazy technological time we live in before we are skull-ef’d by data charges and ads to where we won’t want smartphones ever again.

As many of you are now doing, I too used to absolutley hae physical keyboards because every one I tried slowed me down. Then I picked up the epic 4g and I was impressed. Now I couldn’t live without it. The key to this being I found the keyboard that fit me best. Variety is the most important factor here. 99 out of 100 times I’ll take no physical keyboard, but once I found (for me) the perfect keyboard I couldn’t stop using it. I’m positive there wll be plenty of people wanting to buy an iphone with a kb.

There is no reason for the iPhone to be confined to a single form factor. It would make absolute sense for Apple to release one with a keyboard, a thinner touchscreen only one, and smaller and cheaper one.

I just think it is funny to see apple starting to deviate from its proud innovation and it’s own fresh new ideas. There is blood in the water for Apple. The android os is strong and I believe that it’s got apple rethinking it’s strategy. I just wish someone would write an article about this and keep kissing the golden apple.

Physical keyboard? Really? I don’t want a touch screen keyboard. Come on Apple, hurry up and invent telepathic key entry.

Why not put the CPU in the keyboard compartment? Slideout phones look and feel so much better when the screen is thinner than the keyboard.

Why are they adding a qwerty keyboard for?

Total garbage and please god don’t be true. One platform, optimized code and interface, that is the guiding principle for Apple design.

reading this first page of comments is like a bunch of little children arguing who has the better stuff. IT’S CALLED PREFERENCES. i type well on a computer keyboard without looking. i like to be able to feel what i’m pressing rather than having to check time to time if i’m making any mistakes or not. when i dont use my keyboard, i use swype which works just fine without me looking. but my PREFERENCE is a keyboard and it’s only ONE of the available prototypes of the iphone 5.. supposedly. so if you dont like it, dont get it. isn’t that so simple? for all we know they might come out with both. knowing apple, they’ll design it someway that will make all the apple fanboys drool and change their mind.

The touch keyboard is already great. This is just to shut the mouths of blackberry fanboys.

The bit about the 8MP camera is cool, I hope it comes to the iPad first.

Wah? Lots of cool people use BB’s and Android because to this point they have no choice and messaging is their primary reason for using the phone. Everything I own is Apple aside from my BB because I have hundreds of messages a day. My hope is for Apple to make a candy bar style phone with a longer screen than usual. A touch screen with a Qwerty keyboard (ala Android Pro but they didn’t get that one right) would attract many millions of interested/desperate customers.

 The iphone is looking very nice.. After seeing such iphone, I am so much excited to have it.. Do you have any idea when it is coming in the market and what are the features of it?

My BIL just had to have a Droid X because it has a keyboard.  He has SWYPE he hasn’t touched his keyboard since learning how to use it.  However, you have to give the people what they want so they can make an informed decision on what is best for them.
