Windows Phone 7 update packing copy and paste coming in March?

Software

In December, rumors suggested that the first major update to Windows Phone 7 — the one bringing copy and paste — would drop sometime in January. When the days in January started to dwindle, the date moved to February. Now, with one-third of February gone, the latest batch of fodder points towards early March; the 8th of March to be exact. According to sources from both Neowin and ZDNet, that’s precisely when Microsoft will be releasing the highly anticipated update to WP7. As you can image, we’re pretty skeptical, but it has to be released sooner or later… right?

Will all the engineers at Microsoft they can’t come up with a really good update that makes people go WOW! I’m tired of companies giving little updates every 6 months…then force us to buy new phones. If Microsoft wants to gain in market share they need to be pumping out updates out the wazoo!

Zune got an update this week in prep for the update so it can’t be too far off.

      They’re still selling the Zune?

I think so…I think their sales may even be in the double digits…LOL….

yes they are, but the zune update was the zune desktop app on your PC. I find Zune much better than itunes personally but itunes can do a lot more than zune when it comes to the relationship itunes has with iphone vs Zune has with WP7.

Their Wazoo machine is probably getting the BSOD…

Nothing great has come out of M$ in a while. Windows 7 just Vista SP1, and Windows 7 SP1 should be SP2…LOL. Oh ya, they have MS Orifice, but that’s more of a “Meh” app…

Does this mean I can throw away my Palm 755P now?

How long did it take Apple to add copy’paste? How about 3rd party multitasking? Hell it took years before you could even add a pic to the background. So all you Apple shills need to get a life.

Why do assume we’re all Apple shills dumbass? No one here even mentioned Apple, but you. Are you a closet Apple F@G? Or are you a Ballmer Buttnut?

Wow another bulletin board bully. It’s ok that you still live in your moms basement. Keep playing with your Iphone @sshole

Again, who says I have an iPhone CrotchRot…Stop fucking ur sister, and do something constructive with your sorry ass life…

Why are you assuming he has an iPhone? The pre-pay phone you are using, as well as the dial-up internet because you can’t afford broadband, has really gotten you jealous of everything else huh?

    • http://twitter.com/rdubmu Robert

yes but there phone came out in 2007, this is 2011, and iphone has had it for two years. I know it is a new platform, but having copy and paste isn’t really a deal breaker only when it comes to onenote and word.

    • numetheus

LOL Defensive much? I don’t see much talk comparing it to Apple … juts a bunch of people thinking it took them too long. And it did. As a new OS coming on the scene with Android and iOS ALREADY having copy and paste, it was a little shocking to find that this wasn’t included from the start. Yes Apple got those things late, but they didn’t think it was that important. Lots of people THEN didn’t think it was that important either … I remember counter arguments with people saying they never use it. Now everyone KNOWS copy and paste is a big deal. Microsoft can’t exactly use that as an excuse anymore.

Show us the sales numbers MS! Wp7=FAIL

don’t be an idiot. Do you remember the G1, or even the iphone 1. The most polished os out of the game is/was webOS, and there still isn’t any developer support for it. (2 years later), believe it or not, WP7 has more applications in its marketplace then webOS does, this happened in less than 3 months from the release.

      • Steve Hillshire

Who’s the idiot here? The iPhone 1 was Apple’s *first* crack at a smart phone. Prior to that Microsoft *owned* the smart phone market. Not only did they make smart phones before, they had a horrifically long development cycle for WP7 and this was the best they could do? And all they have to offer now is to get cut and paste working? Are you kidding me?!?!?!

    BETA OS

  • Antebodi

Yeah….. I will believe it when I see it. I have already taken my SIM card out of my phone and put it in my Captivate. Waiting for the Atrix. Sorry, but when you designed the OS and so you said, “surveyed thousands of people,” asking them what they would want in a OS and no cut/copy/paste, thats bad.

  • http://twitter.com/rdubmu Robert

It should have been released sooner. I don’t care about people saying Apple released its first update in the first 90 days. I just want the WP7 update. Whatever it is, I prefer to see progress than one giant update. If there are only two updates this year, it will be disappointing. There isn’t anything wrong with the phone, I would just love to see my experience enhanced. These things need to be added: Weekly view in calendar, direct Outlook Sync via USB, Naive Task Manager that syncs with Outlook, Favorites/speed dial instead of most recent in People Hub

And what about being able to assign a custom ring-tone to individual contacts?

Last time I checked, you couldn’t do that with WP7! Deal-breaker for me…

HOLY SHIT! get my checkbook! I need to order some windowsphone7′s so I can FINALLY have copy and paste on a mobile device! REVOLUTIONARY! good job Microsoft, for FINALLY cracking the code on how to bring copy and paste functionality to smartphones. My BlackBerry has done this since 1997. pathetic,
