HTC ThunderBolt to be available February 24th

We’ve just heard from one of our sources that the up-in-the-air release date for the HTC ThunderBolt will be February 24th. This includes Verizon Wireless sales as well as Best Buy. We weren’t able to track down the reason for the delay, but at least we have a solid date, right?

    Might get this, but will probably wait till next year when my contract is up on my Droid X. Likely will get an HTC because of the bootloader crap from motorola.

    Does anyone know if Verizon will let you preorder for the Thunderbolt? I went to Best Buy to preorder but they said since I am on a business account they wouldn’t let me. So, is there going to be a preorder sale by Verizon?

    I really hope that this is true and we will being seeing the Thunderbolt by Feb. 24th.
    I myself don’t want anything to do with the iphone. But the Thunderbolt, first choice, the Bionic, maybe second choice. Then after that, its the AT&T Trix or maybe…? So many choices, but so few release dates…

      You’re a complete idiot if you think this phone is the same as the Evo. 1. This phone has an aluminum unibody. 2. It has an SLCD screen, which is similar to SAMOLED. 3. It has 256 more megs of RAM, for a total of 768. 4. It has 8 gigs of internal memory, 32 gig SD. 5. It has the new gen processor that is more power efficient, better battery life. 6 It has new Sense 7. Lte >Wimax. btw, I owned an Evo for 7 months.

    Has anyone thouught that maybe the 24th is just for the verizon release? I talked with my best buy rep today and he said “You will have it in your hands on the 14th if you preordered”. Is it possible that best buy does have an exclusive (like everyone originally thought) for the first 10 days? Since You cant return a phone you got at BB to verizon the 14 day return period would not be effected

      I really hope so. I went in and preordered the Thunderbolt at Best Buy two days ago and they checked their system and seemed pretty confident when they told me that I would have a pickup time on the 14th. They even took into consideration letting me pick up before noon so-as not to screw up my work schedule.

    Thunderbolt had software glitch on some devices..vz just wanted to b safe..didn’t want bad pub going up against iphone..

      There’s no way that they would be able to repair a software glitch on god knows how many already produced and warehoused phones in just 10 days. They would just throw it out in the market as always and OTA a fix in four months.

    This is INCREDIBLY annoying. I preordered it at Best Buy and they gave me a pickup time on the 14th. Now I have to wait another week and a half? WTF.

    The reason for the delay is simple. It is exactly 14 days after the iphone launch date. Which perfectly lines up with the return policy. So all the suckers who got marketed and ate the blue cheese cant return their phones without taking a 20 percent stocking fee to get a better phone. Clever huh?

    Having bought the iPhone, I have to say I should have waited for the thunderbolt. I plan on taking my iPhone back. Even though I have to pay the $70 restocking fee. After having the iPhone for 4 days, I have to say I miss android a ton. It’s so much more user friendly and customizable. And of course htc is much better than Motorola in the android department. In my opinion.
