Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play coming to Verizon Wireless, says Wirefly

mobile

According to online wireless dealer Wirefly, Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play handset — you know, the one with the slide out gaming controls — will be headed to Verizon Wireless. On a webpage comparing the iPhone 4 to SE’s latest creation, the site lists the Play’s carrier as Big Red. Sony Ericsson has a press event scheduled for Sunday, February 13th at 12:00PM ET in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress. We can expect to get all the official details on availability there.

Since when does VZW play nice with Sony Ericsson? I’ll believe it when I see it.

If only it had a tegra processor and a 960×540 screen.

True, that would be nice. But the real controls for the emulators and the connection the PSN as well as all the new mobile services Sony recently detailed overcomes that… for me.

Sweet. I wasn’t considering this phone as a potential as S/E normally isn’t on Verizon. Even though it does not have dual core, I may just have to get this. Has two cameras, Android 2.3, playstation controls/network, looks sweet.

I tipped off BGR on this months ago after talking to an Ericsson Rep. Guess they didn’t believe me

Assuming it gets good battery life and reception and the ability to hibernate games so I can start/stop playing at will then I might be sold. I refuse to buy a phone that won’t last on a charge from morning till I go to bed with moderate talk time and limited app use.

The trio of Final Fantasy games from the PS1 would be a big boost to my interest
