Details of HP’s tablet leaks ahead of media event; TouchPad’s the name

The gang over at PreCentral showed up to today’s HP media event several hours early just to… you know, get a good seat. While roaming the halls, the folks from HP just happen to be rehearsing this afternoon’s presentation — and the folks from PreCentral just happen to overhear several details about what we’re in store for. We now know the name of the device, the TouchPad; it’s weight, 1.5 pounds; and it’s depth, 13mm. The event kicks off at 1:00PM ET today, we’ll be there live-blogging the event to bring you the news as it happens.

    From the specs… it took them a year to get their act together and copy the iPad… hurray for innovation!

      It’s got a dual-core QSM8660 @ 1.2GHz and upgradeable flash storage. Not exactly iPad specs…

        ya, and we all know dual cores were all the rage a year ago.. oh wait, nm….
        These companies should learn from video games and movies, you don’t debut your movie right next to a blockbuster (ipad2).

      wordddd. so jedivulcan do you like using FaceTime or Skype with your iPads FFC? Personally I use FaceTime because it’s so simple and easy to use and I don’t have to video chat with someone who’s lame enough not to be using the latest Apple product.

    too big! If someone likes the WebOS UI, simply get a BB PB FTW. It’s UI is very similar to WebOS.

    I’m surprised they would go with the TouchPad name. Makes me think of iPad and iTouch (I know it’s called iPod Touch, but I almost always hear called iTouch.)

    I agree with BigWillieStyle – DB’s for a leak an hr ahead of time….. unless of course HP asked them too so Pre owners get dragged along for another “coming months” DOA Palm from a 8 year Palm user that is now Android…. too little…. to late
