RIM better hurry the F*** up. This is pretty sexy.

    • http://twitter.com/p0di podiâ„¢

I dont know how well RIM is gonna do with that. You HAVE to be tethered to a BB to access your email, calendar & contacts. That sounds like a fail to me.

      • http://twitter.com/NICKVALENTIN0 Nick Valentino

Sorry, but you’re looking at it with blinders on. Would the email situation be any different with this Slate? No.

RIM is doing users a favor and basically turning the BlackBerry into a hotspot- no extra data plan required. It has been stated many times on just about every blog.

Anyway- didn’t want to turn this into a “Why the PlayBook will be superior” post, just stating that as a die-hard BlackBerry fan who’s anxiously awaiting the PlayBook, this tablet looks really nice.

So ur saying that if i purchase this Slate & I wanna access my email Im going to have to tether it to my phone?? No you can set up on the slate. I agree that turning the BB into a hotspot for free would be awesome…I personally havent really been following the BB blogs for a while now because I lost interest as they fall behind so I wasnt aware of this. I just did a google search but couldnt find anything on it. I used to LOVE my berry. What if you dont own a BB yet still wanted to get the playbook? Then what?

      • zukidrvr

        Agreed.

I didn’t find the screen to be very responsive in the video. Who on earth is going to use the red/green 3D option more than once?

I’ve played with a PlayBook. It is the most responsive tablet that I have ever used. A year from now, there are going to be a lot of tablets collecting dust. Most are “me too” products that really don’t offer anything new that is actually useful. Only a few are raising the bar and aiming at more than just the fickle public. As an owner of an Android tablet, I’ve learned that stretching a mobile operating system bigger, doesn’t make it better – especially if the operating system doesn’t know how to take advantage of a multi-core processor.

PlayBook wifi comes next month, starting under $500 with no contract. PlayBook 4G comes early summer. I can wait.

@ podi, didnt mean to give u a plus…the guy doesnt wanna argue with, give it up

      • http://twitter.com/NICKVALENTIN0 Nick Valentino

@podi “I personally havent really been following the BB blogs for a while now ”

Ok, that probably explains why you think you MUST tether to a BlackBerry to use it. LOL

Amen Nick I am with you 100%

      • douche

@nick gaylentino he didn’t say you needed it to work on the playbook he said you needed it for email, calendar and contacts which is true you fake italian

Hopefully this gets priced a little more realistically than Moto did with the Xoom. I know the Xoom is a beast of a machine but $799?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matt-Del-Mastro/775290605 Matt Del Mastro

The Xoom is pretty fairly priced. It’s really only $70 more than the comparable iPad but has more features.

The thing I actually like about this slate is that THERE’S NO BRANDING ON THE FACE. I’m so tired of my devices having logos everywhere.

      • Midi45

Yeah its great competition for a one year old device. LoL!

      • http://twitter.com/p0di podiâ„¢

Your absolutely right, BUT people have cheaper options with the iPad. When the iPad2 gets released it’ll probably be more in line feature wise with he Xoom & the Apple pricing structure will remain the same

      • Anonymous

But think of the price range and the percentage that $70 represents. By $800 there are laptops that are comparable for approximately the same percentage more. Also, don’t forget the additional $20 minimum that Verizon wants. Also wait until next month when Apple announces the iPad 2 and then you’ll have something more comparable.

The bottom line is people that visit this site will take all the specs into account when making a purchase but the mass market that has made the iPad to popular are not likely to look beyond comparing the price and the storage. Compare what an iPad costs for 32 GB to what the Xoom costs. If you want a 3G radio included then the $70 (or $90) additional dollars is still significant percentage wise (more so if it was available now since Best Buy is offering $30 off for 3G equipped iPads right now) but if you don’t want a 3G radio then it’s $200 more.

Bottom line is that Motorola isn’t creating the perception of value. They’ve actually succeeded in making Apple look like a good value in comparison which is unfortunate because I had considered getting the Xoom over the iPad 2. If the iPad 2 prices stay the same then I’ll likely go to the dark side.

Nnniiiiicccceee Hope I won’t have to get a 2 year contract with this and im still afraid it will be expensive. If those $800 Motorola Xoom prices are true there is not telling how much this will cost!

I love the new TMobile girl in pink!

  • Midi45

It will be around 700 on contract.

Since when is a 1 minute 20 second video a 120 second video?

Geeze! Leave them alone! They were excited to see yet another tablet! I know I was. So much so that I misspelled mispelled.

to @Anonymous that replied to the conversation between Nick & I…Im not arguing with the guy im simply having a conversation with him. I agreed with something he said & simply stated my opinion otherwise. Thats not arguing. So why dont you “give it up?”

    • anonymous

then he stated he didn’t want to go back n forth, and you respond again… and i really don’t get the quotes “dude”.

      • http://twitter.com/p0di podiâ„¢

lol You really dont have anything better to do? What are you his lawyer?? You really need to take your own advice and give it up already. Again all I was doing was chatting about a conversation. There was nothing confrontational about anything I wrote. I mean isnt that the point of a comment system? If im wrong maybe you should write them & tell them they need to remove the reply button. Get a grip man

      • anonymous

haha, im giving you what you’ve been trolling for…a conversation. ok, off to class…maybe someone else will talk to u

      • http://twitter.com/p0di podiâ„¢

Here let me help you with what a quote is:
        quote
        [kwoht]
        verb, quot·ed, quot·ing, noun
        –verb (used with object)
        1.
to repeat (a passage, phrase, etc.) from a book, speech, or the like, as by way of authority, illustration, etc.
        2.
to repeat words from (a book, author, etc.).
        3.
to use a brief excerpt from: The composer quotes Beethoven’s Fifth in his latest work.
        4.
to cite, offer, or bring forward as evidence or support.
        5.
to enclose (words) within quotation marks.

        Hope that helped ;)

    this is my next tab.

If these guys can’t find a way to make a tablet way cheaper than Apple then they’re dead in the water. All these tablets cost more that what the iPAD 2 will cost. Remember that they way Android got off the ground was by the buy one and get one free deal. Not to many people find it attractive paying more for a Google Device than a Apple. Apple has found a way to make the iPad perform and feel solid at a cheap price.

  • Anonymous

None of these Tabs have NFC, why does Apple has to be one step ahead of these guys?

    • Ccmhouseforsale

while I’m a healthy investor in AAPL, I’ve also learned that until announced, no future feature is locked in stone. NFC, LTE, may all be a bridge too far. Let’s not count chicken’s before they’re hatched. I’m more impressed with the price point AAPL put in play… basically, it has made all the new comers compete on features, which is not nearly as sticky as the apple brand (quick… tell me anything about LG… where are they based, who is their CEO, what is the coolest product they make?… heck, without scrolling back, what’s the name of this product?).

      • Anonymous

I agree, price point is right one. But considering rumors and truth for iPad V1, V2 seems to be advanced than most of these. I guess we’ll have to wait and see

  • Anonymous

They ruined it. I wanted Glasses-free 3D. or at least polarized glasses-3d…. NOT CYAN/BLUE 3D.

  • Anonymous

    3d camcorder really? That’s hot.

Well, the video has been pulled from Youtube by the guy that uploaded it.
