Motorola’s XOOM tablet priced at $799, available February 24th

Tablets

It looks like the 24th of February will be day-zero for those wishing to purchase a XOOM… but it won’t be cheap. According to a leaked Best Buy flyer, the Motorola XOOM tablet will begin hitting the retailer’s store shelves starting on February 24th for a price so high it will give you a nose bleed, $799. While the pricing schema isn’t too out of line with Apple’s 32GB 3G iPad  – priced at $729 — the XOOM does not, however, benefit from having any cheaper or Wi-Fi only models just yet (not to mention you have to subscribe to one month of VZW service to “activate Wi-Fi functionality”). It looks like those that are looking to get their Honeycomb on will have to pay the dreaded early-adopters’ tax.

The advert also details what Verizon Wireless’ tablet data plans will look like. VZW will be offering 1GB, 3GB, 5GB, and 10GB monthly plans that will retail for $20, $35, $50, and $80 respectively.

We’ll admit, we’re still pretty excited about getting our hands on a Motorola XOOM… but that $800 price-tag did take a little bit of wind out of our sails (and may take a little wind out of Moto’s sales). Drop us a note in the comments section to let us know what you think of the pricing. Too low, too high, or just right?

This looks like a good alternative to the iPad. Just the fact that is has a USB port, camera, and flash should make you want to forget about apple and it’s shitty attitude of trying to keep CONTROL over their products (but they fail miserably)
The price is just not there though.
By the way most of you guys need to go find a lady and make some pooda.Geeks.
