Sprint accidentally outs Kyocera Echo hours ahead of media event

mobile

Just hours ahead of its planned media event, Sprint has accidentally outed the big announcement. According to the company’s website, Sprint will be launching the dual-screen Kyocera Echo smartphone — the same device that we were hearing rumors about this morning. The short blurb notes that the Echo will provide users with a combined 4.7-inches of screen real-estate and “the space needed to run the apps that connect you to the people and information you need every day.” The two screens can be used in unison or independently to run multiple apps… pretty slick. We’ll know more just a few hours from now. Be sure keep it locked on BGR for our hands-on and first thoughts.

The Kyocera Echo smashes the last barrier between you and the ultimate mobile experience. Its unique dual-touchscreen, pivot hinge design gives you all the space you need to run the apps that connect you to the people and information you need every day. Spread your work across all 4.7 inches of combined display or use each smaller display independently to run multiple apps. Closed, the Kyocera Echo is a pocket-friendly smartphone. Open it and expand your world.

If it has a giant hinge in the middle and crap battery life, please just cancel the show.
I am hoping they have come up with something compelling.

I want to know why companies feel the need to fuse two successful products together. 4.7″ of real estate. Honestly who ever needs that much room probably would be more interested in a tablet.

Yeah because I can put a tablet in my pocket.

Not the point. Is a dual-screen even necessary?

        Not the least bit.

Pay attention to your twitter! Posted this like an hour ago.

yes, you are not BGR now are you? since when does BGR RT anything

      • Angie

I didn’t see where I implied he would RT something. I can see how I wasn’t clear in what I was saying though, so I’ll clarify: “BGR pay attention to your twitter, we told you about this a few hours ago”

    Kyocera, though?

  • http://beenswank.net brandonmccall

I thought they went out of business.

  • http://beenswank.net brandonmccall

I’m not the least bit interested in this device anymore. Kyocera isn’t even relevant. Like, where have they been at for the last 5 or 6 years?

    • Proxel

I really thought it was gonna be something different, may be the iPhone or something else. Sorry Sprint I’m moving to Verizon. 6 yrs with sprint and this is what we get!!! Shame on you Sprint!!

      • http://beenswank.net brandonmccall

I am as disappointed as you. But I still find a lot of value in their Everything 450 plan. For that, I’ll always choose Sprint over Verizon.

  • http://beenswank.net brandonmccall

Kyocera? That’s like Mitsubishi deciding that they just want to hop back into the mobile device market and put out some bulls—, label it an “industry first” and schedule an unwarranted media event around it.

I see how David Blaine ties into all of this now. We all forgot he existed ages ago too.

These are not the Droids you were looking for…
