Apple to release iOS 4.3 on February 14th, report claims

Software

Contradicting earlier reports suggesting AT&T might enable Apple’s new Personal Hotspot feature on February 13th, which would require a release of iOS 4.3 on or before that date, MacStories reports that Apple is set to issue the new software a day later on Valentine’s Day. The Apple enthusiast blog cites a reliable source in stating that Apple will release iOS 4.3 at 10:00AM PST on February 14th. Other unconfirmed reports have suggested that the new OS build would be made available before February 10th, when Verizon Wireless’ iPhone 4 is set to launch. Among the new features expected to be introduced in iOS 4.3 are AirPlay support for third-party native apps and Web apps, a new option to configure the iPad’s slide switch as mute or rotation lock, and of course Apple’s Personal Hotspot function, which turns the iPhone into a portable wireless modem.

Lets not forget that it’s DROID that DOES. Apple makes a nice little toy, but if you want true open source power that is good for the consumer due to its immense, throbbing choice and competition, which is good for the consumer, then you want the DROID Bionic or DROID Thunderbolt 4G LTE.

Pleaaase. Maybe you need to scroll up and look at the pictures of those 2 iphones again. NO PHONE on the market….let me rephrase that…no phone on the planet is built with more quality and precision than the iPhone. Even a child could see that in a single picture. Something about holding an iPHone 4 in your hand, looking at the amazing retina display (that’s been out for 6months and still is unmatched in terms of pixels per inch–even against the Bionic or TB), and well pretty much everything about the phone makes you feel like you’re holding a device that shouldn’t come out for another 20 years.

Dear Apple: Please, PLEASE let us change the incoming email alert sound (gong). It is bad enough now with the number of ATT iPhones around, but now with VZW people geting iPhones, it will be utter chaos and extremely annoying trying to figure out who got an email when a group is sitting at a table, etc.

    PLEASE!?

LOL Apple wants everyone to pull their iPhones out of their pockets.

I actually emailed them a long while back, and GASP I actually got a response. They want all users to “have a uniform experience” with their iPhone. Thus, they want everyone to have the same email gong.

Of course, this “uniformity” approach makes no sense whatsoever since text message and other alert sounds can be changed. But, try and argue logic with Apple and, well, you know…

the vibration tends to do a good enough job of informing me that I’m the one receiving the email…

If you jailbreak your phone, there are a plethora of mail tone options you can download.

I am interested to see what the new airplay features are and who will take full advantages of them.

how sweet, it matches the aspect ratio of the ipad… 4:3

Man I hope the carriers or manufacturers don’t delay this update! Oh wait..

    • Anonymous

Carriers have no control over Apple’s updates. iPhones maybe locked down, but they’re unbranded and only supported through Apple.

    Boring update…just jailbreak 4.2.1

    • Anonymous

You would think GP would have waited the two weeks before releasing the untethered jb, now Apple will close the exploit. Huh.

  • apachuka

Keep your 4.2.1 for a while , yeah and don’t forget to jailbreak it and you can customize the hell out of your iphone. it really takes about 4-5 min. to jailbreak, including downloading greenpoison.
