Apple and Verizon no longer taking iPhone 4 pre-orders

Breaking

As of shortly after 8:00PM EST on Thursday, Apple and Verizon Wireless have each stopped taking iPhone 4 pre-orders on their respective websites. Neither company has indicated specifically that pre-orders are sold out — only that pre-sale orders are no longer being accepted. Pre-orders became available for current Verizon Wireless subscribers at 3:00AM EST on Thursday, and Apple and Verizon Wireless had each previously indicated that inventory would be limited. No official details have been made available with regard to how many iPhone 4 units were sold today.

I’m saying it. It sold out baby. Ya going to be happy:-)

  • Koshercritter

I bought mine at 3:10am and I was order # 11,058…..I am certain they sold out.

  • Timeinsf

No surprises here. Just look back to— “Jun 15, 2010 · … also can no longer take preorders for June 24. AT&T is now saying, “Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4.” This is just all part of the big marketing plan…make it difficult on the consumer so that they cannot wait for the next screw job in four months. First AT&T and Apple, now get ready to take it in the rear from Verizon and Apple. I am not buying.

    • Marco

I completely agree… Order number started at 10,000 lol

      • Timeinsf

Ever notice how Apple’s numbers are on par (according to a recent Nielsen report on 2010 smartphone share), at best, with Android and RIM and yet Apple claims to sell out on each product roll out. It’s like– “look at us we sold out”. I have yet to see any Android phone mfr claim that they sold out in half a day. Just look at the six month period ending 12/2010 and Android is showing a 43% share against Apple’s 26%, according to the Nielsen report. Again, just part of the marketing hype and plan.

      • Anonymous

No Android phone would ever sell out. There is not that high of a demand for any one model. Hype, plan or whatever. Apple will sell 15-18 million iPhones just on Verizon this year. 20% of Verizon’s business will be iPhone based by the end of 2011.

      • Anonymous

To this day you DroidTards still don’t seem to get it! Android is on several phones! That is why it has a higher market share! Pick any one of those phones out of the lot and the sales will never compare to that of the iphone! It is phone against phone not operating system against phone!

      • Hgamboa21

        I have order number 5,000..

  • Marco

Who would buy an iPhone in January when the new one is coming out in June??? People have little to no brains!

    • Michael Scrip

People buy 180,000 iPhones every day

What do you suggest… only buy iPhones in July/August?

    • Ghz

It’s February, but I get your point.

    • Az9962

Because the current iPhone is superior than the other phones in the current VZW lineup…and blah blah HTC Thunderbolt……dROID Bionic….nobody cares….

      • Tim242

They’re 4G. They will do simultaneous voice data, even on 3G. Bigger screens. Oh, people care. Just watch and see…

    • Mark

Just my 2 cents but I ordered one because this phone is still on par with the phones that are out today and because I’m not so sure the next iPhone is going to be such a huge change. Apple’s track record shows that they make little incremental updates before making a total redesign. The iPhone basically almost has the same specs as a droid bionic with the exception of 4g and the dual core chip. I don’t care for 4g at this point because I don’t want to pay whatever extra Verizon is going to charge for it and I don’t really think I’d be putting it to good use to justify paying extra for 4g. It’d be a nice feature to future proof the phone, but I don’t really care. Dual core doesn’t really excite me. It’d be nice to have but not necessary. The iPhone 4 is good enough for me now especially since I don’t have to buy an iPod now

  • iTechDude

Just got the tracking number sent to my email from verizon. In transit from Memphis to my location in Knoxville. Shipping UPS

  • Solosmooth

    order # 13401 ordered around 3:05 am

  • sobo

Apple doesnt care. They will be reaping in the dough from 2 carriers. verizon wireless is the top cellular provider in the USA and at&t wireless is second. If apple were to hit 10% of verizon wireless cutomer base that would be 9.3 million sold phones.
Apple will most likely sell their phones to both carriers at different timesets. iphone 5 will goto att this year iphone6 will goto verizon next year. Its a win win situation for apple. apple could care less if their sales with verizon is less than att. Apple still gets their money will att and verizon subsidize the phones for their customers.

    • sobo

      * when att and verizon subsidize the phones for their customers.

  • rawrrrmonster

i cant check my order status

  • http://twitter.com/agibson16 Andy Gibson

I can’t check my order status either

  • Tim242

@TheNewReign: You are fucking nuts if you think Verizon.will sell 15-25 million iphones this year. There are only 12 million iphones active on att now…after 4 years. I guess you also missed the report on how many CDMA iphones are being produced…

  • brices123

Order #3495 and cannot check status.
A friend of mine was able to check 30 minutes ago, but his said there was as hipping address problem.

    • Bringit

a hipping address problem? he must be old.

  • Rudyy50

the word “pre-order” does not exist.
you can’t order “before” you order.
you can order in advance of them being available in person, but pre-order is balogna

  • http://twitter.com/SL1Mike Michael Swaim

From what i heard at a Verizon store today, the numbers by Mid day were in the 90,000s and that only for people with 2 year upgrades.

  • Hzkasbarian

hey how long is it going to say that it is being processed??

  • uCosom

This just in… Mr. Jobs just turned on the light switch!… oh…. he’s walking over to his chair…..yes….yes….hes’ sitting down. Now, he’s looking out the window. I think he’s looking to his right… ummm…. he seems to be pausing to think for a moment (what could he be thinking!!??). Folks, this is just riveting stuff. Just a minute folks, I think he just moved his left foot….

Is this BGR reporting, or Apple’s twitter feed?

    • Bane

They do report on other things….you are the one who clicked on the article about the iphone, and then felt the need to also comment. Hypocrite much?

      • uCosom

Well, I felt the need to comment first when I saw the article really didn’t provide any real substantive information, then I clicked (the only way you CAN comment). Just trying to make a comment and ask a question. If you’re so sensitive, why not just go out with your ‘girlfriends’ and have a good cry about it.

      • Bane

I’d rather cry to your wife while she is blowing me.

      • JWalker

        Why even comment?

      • JWalker

LOL I almost spit out my drink when I read your “blowing” comment, but yeah people like uCosom feel the need to bash the iphone when deep down he really wants no NEEDS one….

  • http://www.myvouchercodes.co.uk online shopping uk

It is quite interesting, most people thoughts that version wireless with iPhone 4 has not so many taker but the pre-orders proves its wrong..

  • Carpediem

Everyone seems to be ragging ppl who get the iphone 4 because the 5 will be out by mid/late summer and will work on the new network…etc. Thing is, unless you live in a major city the new network won’t be to you for another year or more so why does it matter? If you can’t use the new network anyway then why wait for a phone that can be on it? The other thing is I would say 40% of the people who picked it up don’t care about 4g anyway… unless you’re doing big data transfers it does’t apply to you.

  • Jimbobert

Went to take a dump and when I came back it said the thing shipped! I hope it has enjoyable bathroom reading on there!

  • Dubbbbbbbbbb

I was planning on ordering one today…WTF… so much for 7 days to pre-order…
