Microsoft publishes details of first Windows Phone 7 update

mobile

While Microsoft neglected to supply an answer to the one question on every Windows Phone 7 user’s mind — when? — the Redmond giant has finally published details surrounding the imminent first update for its new mobile operating system. Jibing with earlier rumors, Microsoft’s first WP7 update will not be the huge patch once expected. Instead, it will bring one major feature everyone has been waiting for — cut/copy/paste functionality — alongside some minor feature updates and maintenance. Changes highlighted by Microsoft include copy/paste, of course, along with speedier app launching and switching, as well as a repaired Marketplace search function that will no longer populate music when users search for apps. Expect the update to address the Yahoo! email superfluous data bug as well.

This page is over a month old… and gives little to no new information about the update that was announced as far back as, well, October 2010.

Microsoft needs to be more aggressive with the updates or it will be where Palm is. I like WP7 but Microsoft is falling behind with the maintenance.

I’m going away for 2 weeks in Feb. If when I come back there’s still no update it’ll look like I will have to move onto a new OS. I really like the OS but this update was supposed to come out in January and now there’s no timetable. Come on MS you’re far behind the top OS’s as it is.

What the hell is it with these companies and copy and paste? It’s not some hard to design feature, it’s also a basic feature any ‘smartphone’ all of which are targeted to be used in a corporate setting, should have. At least microsoft isn’t making a huge deal out of it like that infamous fruit we all know.

actually it’s harder to add then you think.i’m a programmer and I can think of 3 major issue right off the top that would have to be tactical before writing one line of coding. not to mention you’re adding something into an existing OS via a patch you have to make sure all those files changed work correctly as well as remain stable.
