LG’s Optimus 3D gets pictured; to have dual-core processor and 3D display?

mobile

Just ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC), blog Phandroid has acquired and image of what appears to be the LG Optimus 3D. The new handset will purportedly be a 4+ inch, dual-core, Android handset with a glasses-free 3D display. The report states that the Optiums 3D will use multi-channel RAM and from the photograph we can see the presence of a front-facing camera. Not too shabby looking to be honest. LG has a press event scheduled for February 14th, where the company has said it will take the Optimus “into the new dimension.” Your friends at BGR will be at MWC to bring you all the latest and greatest happenings from your favorite smartphone vendors. Who’s ready for mobile devices that utilize the third dimension?Read

Great, keep releasing devices like this when battery technology hasnt caught up to support today’s power-hungry smartphones. Who cares about 3D anyway?

    • TIME

the good thing with that glasses free 3d technology is that you can turn it off… other than that its gonna be just like every other phone…

      Two words… Spare Battery

Voila 30 seconds later I have a full charge. Besides the average person goes over a day on any smartphone. If you want to use your PHONE like a COMPUTER don’t expect COMPUTER battery life unless you’re using one…

    ^^ What he said.

I doubt it all new LG phones have Touch Wiz it seems..

  • Fedorable

Wait, don’t you lose 50% of the horizontal resolution with glasses free 3d? Not cool.

I don’t care to have 3D on my TV and sure as hell don’t care to have 3D on my phone. That and the fact that it’s made by Lg… they can have it!

  • Chad

i still think this might be the “Industry first” Sprint will announce in February.

    • Sandra

Another CDMA device (with no global GSM support) with a crappy coverage WiMax support? Meh I’ll pass. $10 4G tax? Sprint isn’t worth it. Nobody I know has Sprint anymore anyways. They suck.

        HEY!

        You hurt my EVO’s feelings….

      • Anonymous

Even with the $10 charge for wimax, sprint is still a lot cheaper than at&t & verizon. I don’t know why you hating on sprint, I tried all major carriers & I kept sprint cause their network is great. No dropped calls! Better plans! At&t & verizon both sucks!

Come to So Cal and say that while your cruising at breath taking EDGE speeds and Ill be gettting 5mbps +.. Your GSM phone will show an H for consolation tho, Sprint has more coverage than AT&T and Tmoble, and on top of that they roam on almost the whole VZW network for voice and data.. And why do people bring up global roaming? How many stamps did your passport get last year? And most foreign cities have wifi so any CDMA smartphone combined with a throwaway phone is actually a better option..

Just give me a Atrix/Bionic with a full QWERTY keyboard.
    Preferrably from HTC.

I honestly don’t understand the hype about 3d for phone or even regular TV, I know everyone is following this band wagon, but I just don’t get it and not sure if I will own one!

Eh, way too much bezel. It seems to have just as much–if not more–than my X. At this point, I’m holding out until a near-bezel-less phone exists that is comfortably thin, has a dual/quad core processor, and 4-4.3″ screen. Some of the new phones touted at CES have these specs, so I probably won’t be waiting long.

Dan Hesse was ready for this on Thanksgiving…..and Sprint will be blessed by Memorial Day.

So this is what fragmentation looks like in 3D?

  • Cuffy23

Whatever apple do ppl will follow……

  • Max

why would i want my phone to have 3D display? I am not going to wear those 3D glasses on the street….

hahaha, its glassless. Just like the upcoming Nintendo 3DS.

  • uCosom

3D on mobile devices at this point is just a gimmick. The screen size is too small. When will people demand something of substance?

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me thrice, call me Dubya. I was fool enough to believe Voyager was “iPhone Killer”. I was even a bigger fool to believe Dare was “the Ultimate iPhone Killer”. I was Dubya-II to believe my Dare was the only defective one when I purchased a refurbished one.

Should I buy an LG again? Is there a term bigger than Dubya?

  • Sean76

    Looks like a Droid X!

Man many of you are just whiners.

3D on portable devices is awesome. You already watch TV, movies, or play games… when those are available in 3D, that just makes it more immersive and interesting. I can’t wait to have all this glassless 3D on everything.

However, I do agree with the battery comment. We seriously need better battery tech.

    • Grifter

3D on a 4 inch screen would be “immersive”? Are you a Smurf or something?

      • http://www.vgchartz.com SuperChunk

How far away do you view your phone’s screen?

    • Anonymous

There is some potential there to do some neat stuff. I’ll stand beside you SuperChunk and wait to see it before I bag on it.

I would trade battery for performance. Give me a dual core with a solid 12 hours of battery and Im happy!
