Verizon iPhone 4 pre-orders begin at 3AM Eastern on February 3rd

mobile

In an email to current customers on Friday, Verizon Wireless confirmed that it will begin taking pre-orders for the iPhone for at 3:00AM Eastern Time next Thursday, February 3rd. The email confirms earlier rumors to the same effect. Only existing Verizon Wireless subscribers are eligible for pre-orders — AT&T iPhone users and others looking to open a Verizon account when purchasing a new CDMA iPhone 4 will have to wait until the phone becomes available to the general public a week later on February 10th. Pre-orders will be available on a first-come, first-served basis so interested parties may when to set an early alarm and get their pre-orders processed as quickly as possible.

Why 3:00AM? For one thing, 3 o’clock on the 3rd has a nice ring to it. For another, only very, very excited people will get up at that hour to place their pre-orders. Of course, there are plenty of very excited people out there, but getting the overly-anxious customers out of the way in the middle of the night means crashes and server issues are less likely during the day. Subscribers with individual accounts looking to place pre-orders on the 3rd can visit verizonwireless.com/iphoneorder, and enterprise customers should visit verizonwireless.com/businessportals.

I am debating, but thinking more towards just buying an iPhone 4 from Verizon because 1. I cannot stand my BRICKberry Storm 1. And 2. I have my early upgrade and can apply my high $30 last-time credit towards a 32GB shiny new iPhone, plusssss I want IN (pun not intended) on the unlimited data for the iPhone 4. I can’t do Android because I don’t. Doesn’t work then. Anyway if the iPhone 5 were to come out this summer—cool. But at least I will have unlimited data and enjoy my iPhone 4 rather than a way out of date Brickberry Storm. iPhone 4 won’t be THAT out of date. Technology outdates itself everyday. Cry me a river, but that’s life.

3 oclock has a nice ring to it? That sounds ridiculous. Its probably because at 3am on the east coast it means it is actually Feb 3rd throughout the continental US.

3 AM because apple business is located on the west coast and do not want to start selling the iphone before 2/3/10 and 12am pacific time is 3am eastern time

I don’t see this would attract Android smartphone users, but the brickberry users with their outages and severely outdated hunk of junk will surely dump their phones for it. Especially the storm-owners.
