MacBook Pro refresh happening soon?

General

One of my theories was that, with the launch of the MacBook Air, Apple might eventually get rid of the standard MacBook as we know it, and simply rename the MacBook Air the MacBook. It could overhaul the MacBook Pro lineup into solid-state, tapered, thinner and lighter machines, and you’ve got quite a lineup, right? In any case, MacRumors is reporting that several sources have informed them of supply shortages for 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models in Apple stores and thirty-party retailers. This points to Apple most likely limiting stock in advance of a product update. Additionally, Amazon is quoting a 1-2 month shipment window for the 17-inch MacBook Pro, though Apple continues to ship all MacBook Pro laptops within 24 hours of purchase from its online store.

My 2007-era MacBook Pro 15″ is due for a refresh – it’s 4 year AppleCare will expire this year. I hope the MBP refresh brings USB 3.0 and HDMI with it.

Keep dreaming. Apple will take a while to implement USB 3.0 and they are going with DisplayPort. If you really want HDMI, purchase an adapter.

Reduce the price a bit, then i’ll be saving up for my first macbook…

    Poor me…

    • MacIs4Homos&Girls

Might as well just buy a PC. Lower price and better hardware, plus no hasstle with apple crap.

      • Donny

Better hardware? You joking? No…just a troll trolling…

      • Pinof1

well for the most part the hardware is the same ..

      • prchris16

you can get twice the specs on a windows machine for a fraction of what it would cost to get comparable parts from the magical, revolutionarly, money laundering company that is Apple.

      • AndroidWins

Hmm, that’s right 6 core processors, DDR3 memory, Better USB support, easily upgradable; that is just so inferior to whatever garbage apple puts in that they get from their Asian sweat shops…

Hey Donny, I think they make websites for homoerotic apple fans like yourself; you might wanna go check those out instead of posting your worthless comments here. You are getting quite old and repetitive…

Don’t forget that joy of using “Windows”, getting to visit that “Nothing like an Apple store”, just to visit the “Guru” behind the “Answer Bar”.

Like Android, if you are into the “MeeTo”, copycat product, then yes a PC is for you.

  • AndroidWins

Snore….ZZZ…. Who cares about Macs and their outdated hardware…

        Haha +1

Will be a little disappointed if it has SSD since I just bought my Pro a few months ago.

      • http://twitter.com/BiggiePhat JG

i click on any mac related link just so i can read more on what crazy thing they will do next thats been out for years already.

      • Anonymous

Really? Such as? P4′s have been out for years, yet they don’t offer them anymore. i5 and i7 are out, and they offer those. Sandy Bridge just came out, so it hasn’t been out for years…

You sound like an idiot…wait? yup…you’re an idiot.

    • http://twitter.com/BiggiePhat JG

@nefan65 Yea MMS was out for YEARS and you just got that last year. Feel like a big man now huh? I wish all my tech was a solid brick of aluminum. Boy that would be great.

      • AndroidWins

You’ve been owned nefan65. Nice one JG :)

      • http://twitter.com/MeanKidneyDan Mean Kidney Dan

i didn’t realize all of their tech was a solid brick of aluminum.

  • Skyler

I am looking to buy one for college soon so I guess I will have to wait for this refresh as long as i can still get the 2.88 GHz i7 or better :)

  • Togsy

oh great, my MBP arrived this morning, would you guys recommend I send it back within the 2 week period?

    • Anonymous

Yes, send it back ASAP. You spent a lot of money already, better to wait for the refresh.

  • Philbert

My 2007 13″ Macbook is now almost 4 years old, and it’s long due for an upgrade. I’m looking for something that’s faster, but none of the 13″ models really give me what I need (I have a current-gen 13″ MBP at work, and it’s faster but still not what I was hoping for).

I hope that Apple finally releases a 13″ with an i3 or i5 processor, which I’m guessing will be Sandy Bridge with integrated graphics. It looks like the new Sandy Bridge performance is roughly equivalent to the Geforce in the current 13″, so the move would be a step forward

  • Booboolala2000

I’ll be happy with the one I got last month for a few years. Feel much more confident with macbookpro over any other laptop i have had in the past.

They are NOT SELLING any more Macbooks at all. They realized that OSX is WAY inferior to Android and that the ATRIX will be as powerful, or more, than the highest MacPro with 12 cores.
