Images of buttonless HTC smartphone surface

mobile

What do you get when you mash an iPhone 3GS and an HTC DROID Incredible together? Apparently, you get a peculiar new Android smartphone headed to Verizon Wireless — provided you rip out the iPhone’s home button and smooth over the wound, that is. Prior rumors of buttonless HTC devices gained some credibility on Thursday as photos of an unreleased HTC device were published on a Chinese forum. Verizon branding and a sizable touchscreen are visible on the device, as is a contoured rear case and a dual-LED flash beside the rear-facing camera. Additional details are scarce for the time being, though the handset will supposedly run Android 2.2 Froyo at launch. Hit the break for an image of the back and thanks to everyone who sent this in.

God I hate the backside of the HTC Incredible. Would have bought that over my Fascinate had it been flat.

If you look very closely, perhaps squint, you can make out four circles on the bottom of the phone. It has “buttons”, my friends. Unlit, capacitive buttons.

Why would BGR say buttonless… Either it has buttons or there are other “buttonless” Android phones by HTC and others out

    • Smartguy

You must be looking at this w beer googles,,lol, there are NO visible ‘buttons’

Looks like an extra thick iPhone 3. Sexy? Or old… maybe we call this one the cougar.

I actually like buttons, its faster for me…i would prefer to press a button to bring up my menu than doing some crazy thing on my screen…maybe its just me. No buttons at all is a turn off for me, certain buttons just makes life easier.

I am in no way saying i dont like touch screens, i just dont like the idea of everything being touch, some things just need a button…reason i will never buy a Kinect.

I’m with out about having buttons for portable devices, but something like the Kinect is a completely different subject.

While you can’t button mash like on a “traditional” console, the interaction methods are completely different for a reason – the game interaction is entirely different!

Well i cant play COD or Madden using the Kinect, and if i could i dont think i would want 2 =/…if i were to buy a Kinect it would just be in a corner collecting dust next to my Wii. And back to the article, i think buttons are better than gestures (well faster.) If they are gunna replace the physical button and make it a virtual one, then fine, but if its gunna be fully gesture based, it would suck IMO.

Doesn’t say with Google. Hmmmm. Bing?

The ThunderBolt also said “with HTC Sense” on the back, but it was replaced with “with Google” before being formally announced. I’m pretty sure one of the main reason’s the Merge has been delayed so long is because HTC stood up for themselves and decided that they weren’t going to allow Verizon to cripple it with Bing.

Why no story about how the HTC Thunderbolt will do simultaneous voice & data over *3G*? This thing is just white noise distracting from that fact…

must be an incredible 2, a tablet wouldnt be that small compared to the original inc

It’s got buttons. It’s either really blurred out or really badly photoshopped. You can make out the circular areas similar to the EVO.

  • KrazyVZW

Its the HTC incredible 2…. this will be coming out along with a Droid 3 refresh and Droid X2. And im sure everyone is going say yeah yeah and sure sure….

    • Smartguy

      Windows Mobile?? That’s so 2001,,,lol

Buttonless? Or touch only? I see two different meanings there… It has the standard Android keys I’m sure, which will be capacitive “buttons” at the bottom like every other Android touch only phone. I don’t get what the big deal is. Unless it has no power button… which wouldn’t make sense because without power already active the capacitive keys won’t work so a capacitive power button wouldn’t make sense.

What else are they gonna copy from Apple. Droids start to be like the fake Chinese apple phones. They ‘wanna-be”-s , regardless how stupid the idea is (bottomless apple phones)

  • DustinF00

It is missing the “Google” logo on the back… Could this be Window Mobile?

  • Chip Bruchez
