Apple and News Corp will announce ‘The Daily’ on February 2nd

Tablets

It looks like all the rumors, hearsay and hype can finally be put to bed. Apple and News Corp will hold a press conference next week to unveil News Corp’s iPad-only newspaper, “The Daily.” News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch will likely do the honors, and Apple VP Eddie Cue will be on hand to detail Apple’s newly available subscription services for publishers. The Daily is expected to cost subscribers $0.99 per week, and the digital paper will be run by former MTV exec Greg Clayman.

Apple and News Corp in bed together. How appropriate.

Apple: Control freaks who like to tell you what you must like, and what is cool.
News Corp: A company dedicated to using people’s own stupidity to sell them lies and propaganda for profit. Oh wait, Apple does that too. Sounds like a marriage made in heaven.

Rupert Murdoch … no thank you. Seriously, people– read Manufacturing Consent co-authored by Noam Chomsky.

Got to hand it to news corp. Go with the winner, always go with the winner. Even if the winner changes, always go with the winner.

Verizon won’t be putting 1/10th the ad dollars behind Android that they use too. Why? Well, there isn’t a need to now. Clearly they have sold every Android device possible and know that the iPhone is going to eventually be double Android’s share on Verizon.

Smart people (and corporations) always go with the winner.

“Losers complain about doing their best, winners go home and fuckk the prom queen.”

Cue the yawns. I’m confident “The Daily” will take off about as well as all the other iPad-only subscription services. It will sell well for a few months while users try it out & then sales will fall flat.

“Are you ready for a flame out?”

    WOW!

Talk about a ginormous waste of time!

What makes someone think that this is even remotely a good idea? I have heard of riding the bandwagon before, but this is like trying to put a fifth wheel wagon load on a wheel barrow!

    Yeesh!

.99 a week? $52 a year? For… a digital newspaper that is read on a device with internet capabilities, required to update the newspaper? Um, label me ignorant, but what is the point of this and the value? Go to a website, see the news for free. I mean, maybe I’m missing something here?
