Starbucks now accepting mobile payments nationwide

mobile

Love strutting your stuff to that sassy barista at your favorite Starbucks? Starting today, you’ll be able to swipe your iPhone, iPod touch, or BlackBerry at almost all Starbucks locations to pay for your coffee (or delicious reduced-fat Cinnamon cake). The program had been piloted in California and many New York stores and allows you to use the Starbucks Mobile Card iPhone app to add your Starbucks Cards, track rewards, and also reload your cards from your phone. How easy is it to use to pay that Trenta Caramel Frappuccino? Just tap “touch to pay” in the app, hold it up to the scanner at the register and you’re off and running. Or slowly reconsidering ordering a 31oz blended coffee and beverage. Going to give it a go? Let us know, alright?

    Why no android version? Grr

    • StevenGlansburg

Starbucks realizes that most teens (android owners) don’t drink coffee so they didn’t feel it necessary.

Maybe they fail to realize that these teens will be in their 20′s only a few years away and they will never see a dime from these kids in the FUTURE. They are blind when they look in to the FUTURE when Android will take over…

Pretty lame there isn’t an android version yet, lots of customers missing out because of this.

There is not an official android version. However, there is an android app that has all the same features in android marketplace. It has good user reviews.

      Which app would that be?

I tried it with my Blackberry Storm2 this morning. Didn’t work. The girl behind the counter mentioned that she had tried it and found the scanner on the particular register she was working seemed to have trouble scanning them… so I pulled out the regular card and used that.

I hope this works better than “CardStar” which was a nifty app (in concept) to put all of your “Rewards” cards on your phone… but it would never scan. I would love to do away with some of the cards in my wallet and this seems like a great way to start.

      It’s called CASH!

Doesn’t work on my Blackberry 9650. I think Starbucks needs to get the bugs out of this thing before they introduce it.

Can’t wait to try this out. I’m in California but the trial that they didn’t wasn’t in my area.

That is great! I love having a cup of joe in starbucks! I happy that it would accept mobile payments? I save money with cheap prepaid cards just to buy a cup of joe. :)
