LG exec says Windows Phone 7 sales aren’t meeting expectations, OS is ‘boring’ to some

mobile

LG’s global head of marketing strategy and planning James Choi may soon find himself in hot water following a few loose comments made to British blog Pocket-lint. Of Windows Phone 7 devices sales, Choi said sales have not met the phone maker’s expectations thus far. “From an industry perspective we had a high expectation, but from a consumer point of view the visibility is less than we expected.” Choi went on to say that savvy users might find Windows Phone 7 “boring” after using it for a short period of time, but that there are other consumers the platform appeals to. “For tech guys like us it might be a little bit boring after a week or two, but there are certain segments that it really appeals to,” said Choi. “We strongly feel that it has a strong potential even though the first push wasn’t what everyone expected.” LG release a pair of Windows Phone 7 devices last year — the Optimus 7 and AT&T’s LG Quantum. Neither device received ovely positive reviews.

Kinda hard to Solidify that argument when the phones were only released on Tmobile & AT&T. Had Sprint and VZW users had a chance at launch the sales couldve probably tripled. I wouldve given WinMo 7 an honest chance…however, making me wait til seemingly summer 2011 isnt helping…especially considering the mushroom cloud known as Android hangs over with EVO 2, Galaxy S2, and Optimus devices.

Besides….LG should focus on releasing various phones to various carriers. The optimus line was their only true effort.

    And, I reiterate:

Don’t blame ‘The Messenger’, lay blame on ‘The Micro-Messiah’. I used Windows Mobile (and, before you correct me, Windows 7 or Windows Professional 7, or whatever you’d like to call it, is still a ‘Mobile’ platform) from about 2002 to June 4, 2010 (EVOOOO day) and can say from true user experience that, whatever it’s called now or even two years from now, it’s Microsh¡t! There was always some issue, bug, limitation, or hardware conflict (usually, not enough RAM or internal memory to optimize the OS) with Windows Mobile 2002; Windows Mobile 2003; Windows Mobile 2003SE; Windows Mobile 5, 6, 6.1, and, 6.5, respectively. Microsoft blames the hardware; the Carriers blame no one (they just recommend switching devices) but, insist that other users have not reported any problems; and, the manufacterers (hardware companies), in this case LG (but, could just as well be HTC or Samsung) unfairly get all the blame. Solution: stop hoping and waiting that Microsoft will “actually” do something “different” with their next iteration, whether it’s designated 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12; do what many have already done and bid Adieu. Or, just keep buying and complaining about the Microcrap (but, quietly so the rest of us aren’t subjected to your self-inflicted torture)!

    it’s just incredibly ugly
and you cant get rid of those ugly tiles
i really dont know how anybody who didnt get it for free would want it

    • Itsjustmee

and i dont mean the hardware…
the hardware from all the makers seems competitive enough
      it’s those ugly tiles
and the partial words on every screen
      unbearable

      • Hate, Y U No Love?

I hate cartoony ugly icons. What’s your point?

It was meant for old ladies and others where the phone is a distraction.
Of course it sucks, it’s suppose to.

The OS is lovely. The phones are horrible. I have been looking for a nice-looking phone with WinPhone 7 on it, and have been disappointed. LG is just trying to shift blame to Microsoft for atrocious hardware design. Which is surprising as LG has produced some gorgeous -looking handsets in the past. If they could offer a phone that looked like the Chocolate or the Mini with WinPhone 7 on it, I would buy it in a flash.

Lets just say LG didn’t exactly have the best design. Almost all of there phones are a ugly brown, or black many they should consider a new design team. There screens also seem to scratch easily.

Maybe they should consider designing phones that people actually want to hold? I like the OS quite a bit.

LOL. I called this when they first announced wp7. I knew the launch would be botched and I knew it would still be windows mobile at its core( in other words, crap). Microsoft, stick to PC’s and Xbox. stop making mobile phones. PLEASE. they are terrible. and obsolete.
