Sprint lowers Galaxy Tab price to $299.99 on contract, $499.99 contract-free

Retail

Sprint on Wednesday lowered the price of the popular Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet to $299.99 with a new two-year contract or $499.99 with no contract. The new pricing represents a $100 reduction for both on-contract and contract-free purchases. It also lines up with Best Buy’s adjusted pricing for Sprint’s Galaxy Tab, which BGR reported exclusively last week. The Galaxy Tab was a big success for Samsung in 2010, having sold over 1 million units in less than two months of availability. The tablet features a 7-inch touchscreen display, dual cameras, video chat support and the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. Sprint’s version of the Galaxy Tab is capable of connecting to its 3G network or any Wi-Fi network for data connectivity. 3G service for Sprint’s tablet costs either $29.99 per month for 2 GB of data, or $59.99 for 5 GB.

If it’s so popular why lower the price? Obviously they want to clear inventory.

Maybe Dan’s pre-mwc announcement is a new tablet?

A new Tab after 3 months on the market? Did Samsung forget a button?

And as another commented pointed out, if it’s doing well, why lower the price?

To clear inventory for newer, better tablets. Duhhhhhh.

“Cut that price, the dust settling on the boxes at the distributors is causing us to spend another 7% on fuel to deliver these devices to the stores and then take them back to the distributor.”

Popular? How do they define popular?

Better yet, why show a UK gTab and flaunt in our face what we cant have in the US? Unless of course the article is talking about the UK’s Best Buy’s and Sprint.

its all coming together now….lower the price on the sammy tab. Im guessing, just in time for the first so called 4g tab, as mentioned in the “big announcement” article……

I REALLY hope this means we get a 4G tablet from HTC… SCRIBE, SCRIBE, SCRIBE!!

And I hope I’m not getting exciting for a piece of crap hardware. I want dual core SOMETHING! I don’t care if it’s Tegra, Qualcomm, OMAP, WHATEVER! Just something solid with awesome hardware.

People excited about dual cores right now, are suckers to marketing

And what are your reasons exactly? Sure, battery power will suffer. But I work in an office and live in a house and have plugs/USB ports all over the place so battery life is not really that big of an issue to me.

Verizon just got the specs in for the 4G/LTESammy Tab 1.2ghz processor – Sprint must have an exclsuive on it first to the 4G tab……. thanks Sprint….

I just other carriers will follow suit so I can get T-Mobile version for $500 without contract (I have webconnect plan already).

There are a lot of these sitting on the shelves of mobile phone dealers in my area. Finally, they are putting the price where it really should be.

    Yikes!

In Australia it’s still at A$999 with 24 contract at Vodafone and Optus. Pretty expensive considering that 1 AUD = 1USD

  • zps

    those data rates are absurd.

No big advertising push…we don’t even have them in some of our stores…and the price has been too high. I wonder I’d they just aren’t selling many. Ok, I am done wondering.
