Hands-on with the Samsung 4G LTE smartphone [Video]

CES

Following Thursday’s fast-paced Verizon 4G LTE announcement, we were eager to get a bit of hands-on time with one of the keynote’s stars, the Samsung LTE Smartphone. The as-yet-named handset is spec’ed to impress — with a 4.3″ Super OLED screen, 1 GHz processor, 8 megapixel rear-facing and 1.3 megapixel front-facing shooters, and more, all running atop Android 2.2. In use, the handset proved to be speedy and responsive, which is becoming quite the common theme (something you won’t hear us complaining about, especially considering the choppy beginnings of Androids initial UI interaction just a year or two ago). We’re expecting a more fitting, superlative-drenched name to be announced as soon as Samsung and VZW get around to blessing us with a release date and pricing info, but in the mean time, enjoy the hands-on video after the break!

Is Sprint getting a QWERTY Android with a DUAL CORE PROCESSOR ???????????

    • Scott

It’s called get with the times and learn to use a touch screen. How hard is that? All keyboard do is make the phone thicker.

      • Lloyd_Adams415

I think the problem for most people is that it is easier to play games with a physical keyboard, especially if they play roms.

Maybe you need to leave your ghetto carrier and come on over to VERIZON WIRELESS. We have a large amount of quality top of the line DROIDs that can suit every need. Don’t see one you like right now? Give us two weeks, we will have a DROID that DOES for you.

  • Catsjohnson

Rather have the duel processor on the droid bionic…. some of the phones shld hit market by end of the month. N might I add all screens are bigger than the iPhones ha ha

    • Mplsboywonder

Because bigger is better? I will definitely sacrifice size for resolution anyday of the week.

These are 4″ – 4.3″ screens. At some point higher resolution doesn’t matter because you’re eye can’t perceive the difference.

      • Norm 4G

Bigger is better. And that is what DROID DOES. We up the specs. Yeah, the DROID OS has issues, lots actually, but it offers choice and competition, which I’m not really sure what it means, but uh…DROID DOES!

Droid Bionic, lol. Dual Processor and “4G” equals how many minutes of battery life? Remember all those EVO buyers last year getting tiny erections cause their phone had “4G” but they complained cause their battery died half way through the day.

well motorola made the bionic not htc. different company hopefully different results. believe me im afraid of the same thing with these new high powered phones.

  • Mr8820

This being released with 2.2 has to sting the galaxy owners!

    • Donny

If they want 2.2 bad enough they will get this phone and the next after it for 2.3.

      • http://www.vgchartz.com SuperChunk

Nope Dev community will have a 2.3 rom I can install soon.

      • Donny

Ok the average person, 99.99999% of consumers, will have to do that.

  • iflyhi

Just wouldn’t trust Samsung with prompt updates, observing their past history. Nice phone, but would look other brands like HTC.

  • Mplsboywonder

I can’t even see past how ugly this phone is.

  • http://twitter.com/rodneybn Rodney N

He said 1.2 Ghz Processor in the Video

    • Booboolala2000

He sure did. But this is another Binged out pos. It doesn’t say, “with Google” on the back.

      • Eazail

This is actually not a bing phone. You clearly see it’s all google on the video, no bing apps. Best confirmation that there is no bing is at the very end of the video. He hit the search button and google search popped up instead of bing.

How much you want to bet that the battery life is terrible?

  • zukidrvr

As a Captivate owner who was promised a software fix to the GPS problem and Froyo by the end of last year… No thanks! Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.

I am really not sure I want another Samsung device. The last last one I had, a Vibrant, had to be replaced. After that I got an HD7 a soon as I could sell the Vibrant. Battery life was terrible with the Vibrant. The phone was pretty slow as well. Just moving across the home screen was a jagged experience.

    • Norm 4G

I am sorry to hear about your horrid experience with the Samsung DROID Vibrant 3G SmartPhone. As you can see the Samsung DROID Vibrant 4G LTE by Verizon Wireless will fit your needs. We are committed to offering a brand new DROID every 3 months that fits your needs. That is what VZW DOES…. DROID.

Until, I hear differently about Samsungs update practices. I will stay completely away from their phone products
