Verizon iPhone launch looks set for February 3rd

Exclusive

BGR has confirmed with a source close to Apple that the company has blacked out employee vacation requests between February 3rd and February 6th — Thursday through Sunday. The four-day vacation freeze has been confirmed to be in effect in several regions in the United States. A recent report suggested the vacation black-out would cover a period of three weeks beginning in late January and extending into February, which still could be true in some regions.

Back in June of last year, Apple picked the dates of 24th to the 27th for its iPhone 4 weekend launch — also a Thursday through Sunday. In addition, Verizon Wireless typically launches new devices on Thursdays. While BGR has not yet confirmed that the Verizon iPhone is the device we’ll see debut on the 3rd, the timing lines up very well with previous reports; no other Apple products have been rumored to be launching in this time frame.

Really?! I do hope everything adds up to the rumor finally being true. If so, thank God, I couldnt be happier!
And first I would get one without hesitate!
Next I will post my current iPhone 4 on somewhere for $499 selling, though Im enoyable with it.
Then lastly what I should do is just sit and wait patiently. The wait is over and I can tell ATT where to go!
Anyway, and I have learnt much more about the iPhone from iFunia: http://www.ifunia.com/iphone-column///index.html/index.html

I’m curious to see how this phone is going to be…We all know how VZW likes to cripple the heck out of their devices…I’m pretty happy with ATT right now…I get between 3-5Mbps speeds on it now (non-LTE) which is funny because a few of my friends have the new 4G phones from Sprint and T-Mobile and they get the same speeds…lol…

has anyone ever stopped to think that it could just be an annoucment/launch of the embedded CDMA iPad?

The normal refresh cycle of the ipad by default should be March/April, it’s doesn’t make sense for Verizon to hold a media event to announce a CDMA iPad release in february, when the iPad 2 will probably be out in a month or two later. And there’s no way in hell Apple would let Verizon even come close to announcing the iPad 2. To be honest with you, soon Apple will probably be sending out invitations for an even of their own in the next two weeks to announce the iPad 2, so I don’t even think Apple would want Verizon also announcing an iPad in the same month as them, it would be confusing for some customers, and Apple is all about their customers.

Wow. Could you HAVE any less information to go on? This is pitiful.

I’ve seen this before: You post the rumor often enough and sooner or later you’re bound to be right. Then you can crow, “We had it first!”

Verizon is the most powerful carrier in the country, their choice of using CDMA for their phone is a smart move the GSM technology is very old and unreliable, to any one thinking that these are rumors is Preposterous Verizon is getting the iPhone and ATT is gonna die slowly!

I say fail to people saying engadget didn’t report these rumors, as it was the site I saw that first had the invitation up, and that they said the wall street journal said the iPhone was coming then, and then posted again saying it was planned for end of January release… So fail on your part

Talk about comical. Not only does this prove just how pathetic people can be on the internet it also proves no one really seems to pay too much attention. By that I simply mean if you’re going to yell at BGR, say Verizon starts these rumors, or any other BS, you CLEARLY live under a rock.

For starters, the iPhone is a big thing, like it or not. Also there’s the simple fact this article comes around the time of an article by The Wall Street Journal, which supposedly confirms the iPhone coming to Verizon Wireless.

Also there was supposedly evidence of at least one CDMA iPhone in the wild a little under a year ago. On top of that unlike previous times too many rumors too quickly were flying about over the iPhone this time. Starting in mid December and on going to know.

Course it doesn’t me a whole lot. After all rumors are rumors and anyone with a decent mind is going to take rumors with a grain of salt. Not to mention not get worked up by rumors.

My nit picking at much of what I was reading is done now.

    Ciao!

I, for one, can’t wait for the iPhone 4 goes to Verizon. I get a sweet discount with AT&T, have no issues with coverage what-so-ever where I live/work/play. Worst case scenario for me is that it frees up AT&T’s network in my area allowing for even better data speeds (win-win basically).

I also have a business line with VZW, but can’t justify having an iPhone 4 on both networks (unless the VZW version is 4G – which is doubtful).

  • Maybe?

Take this for what you will, Verizon just changed their terms for returning phones to 14 days starting Jan 16th. If Iphone launches Feb 3rd, that should keep the thousands of sold non-Iphones from being returned in the old 30 day window.
I know we will all know tomorrow, but it just hit me and thought I’d share it.

So is it true that the VZW iPhone will not be a global phone?

Excited to see what it looks like!

    Smart move by both companies.
