Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 update page indicates a January release

Software

During last night’s keynote, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer was pretty tight-lipped about an exact release date for the company’s first major Windows Phone 7 update; all that was said was, “in the next few months.” But a quick glance at the URL Microsoft is using to tell consumers about the benefits of said update points to a release sometime this month. The pages address is:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/features/january-update.aspx

and goes on to detail the update’s payload. Additions and improvements include: copy and paste, faster app and game start-up times, and better Marketplace search. You don’t have to take our word for it. Hit the read link and have a look for yourself.

I’m really considering a windows phone 7 device for my next update in the fall. I like how Microsoft controls the update process, so no matter what carrier, you have the latest software.

I just switched from the Droid this past weekend, and I’ve very happy with the Windows phone. It seems very intuitive and easy to use. I love how it doesn’t eat up the battery, too. Enjoy!

I have to give credit to Microsoft. They heard the backlash from users about copy and paste so they made available in January. Not bad only 2 months. That’s a very quick update.

I am just very disappointed that Microsoft seems to be dong nothing to address issues with using Windows Phone 7 in the enterprise. Better enterprise security compatibility and the ability to easily move files other than music or pics between the pc and device would be greatly appreciated. And something everyone stopped talking about is the ability to manually enter names for hidden wifi networks and connect. No, you cannot do that!!
