RadioShack to launch Sprint’s EVO Shift 4G early; $149.99 on January 6th

Exclusive

If you’ve gotten yourself all worked-up about Sprint’s EVO Shift 4G from HTC, listen up. As we told you yesterday, the official Sprint launch date for the Now Network’s third WiMAX-enabled smartphone is January 9th. Best Buy will be offering pre-orders of the Shift to Reward Zone members on Thursday, January 6th and to the general public on Friday, January 7th. Your friends at RadioShack, however, will be selling the EVO Shift 4G tomorrow, January 6th, via its chain of retail stores. A memo obtained by BGR indicates that the Shack will provide you with the new 4G handset in exchange for $149.99 with a new two-year contract — no rebates (of any kind) required. And there you have it. If you need the Shift, the Shack’s going to have it… a full three days early.

Thanks, Drew!

So, they will be first with something people don’t seem too want much…neat?!

I hate these comments, where people assume that, because this is a phone that they don’t want, nobody wants it.

It fits the niche of a 4G phone at a comfortable size, physical keyboard (which a good percentage of people want), and the reasonable pricing of Sprint.

No it doesn’t have Gingerbread (yet) or a front facing camera, but it does fit a need for some people.

Your right… the phone isn’t named after something from Star Wars so therefore it isn’t “cool” …give me a break.

I’m there! Wait until the Thunderbolt is unveiled with it’s 1GHZ Single Core. Everyone’s head is going to explode and they will realize the Shift is a great device for the price.

Calling it an EVO is a disservice to the HTC EVO

Calling yourself Peter is a disservice to the genitalia.
