DROIIIIIIID. At the company’s CES keynote, DROID-maker Motorola announced a new, dual-core Android beast destined for Verizon Wireless.  Dubbed the DROID BIONIC, the handset sports a 4.3-inch qHD display, dual-core 1GHz processor, somewhere between 512MB and 1GB of RAM (Motorola’s product page says the device has 1GB of RAM and their press release says 512MB), Wi-Fi, HDMI-out with mirror mode, 1080p playback, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, front-facing VGA camera, and, obviously, a LTE radio. The device will be available “early” in the second quarter of this year.

UPDATE: Motorola has reached out to us by phone. The device has 512MB of RAM. Motorola’s product page has an error. That’s our final answer.

  • Ryry oh yea

NOOOOOOOOOO EARLY SECOND QUARTER???? I want this but idk if I can wait that long I may have to get the LG phone if it comes out earlier…what’s better LG or Motorola? Or maybe Samsung…?

512 mb ram? Really!?! What the???? Even at&t’s inspire has 768 MB of RAM. What a waist of a dual core chip!

  • ChocoTaco

Oh my gentle Jesus. This thing is the beastliest phone ever made. Incredible HD what? Or whatever HTC was gonna call that thing? This Moto masterpiece makes the HTC rival look like a paperweight. I hope the actual production model has QC under control because this thing could be the biggest hit ever on VZW’s network.

Sounds great! I could really use the HDMI output and of course the front facing camera is going to be a must for video chat.

  • burpootus

Just say no to locked bootloader Android devices!

  • Aaron

Why is the front facing camera only VGA. That is a bit dissappointing including that Verizon is dropping the NE2 plans and probably going to charge for the 4G service out the butt as well.

Also, will the webtop work for this phone as well?

It looks VERY similiar to the Matrix 4G. (I know it is the Atrix 4G((HSPA+)), i don’t care.)

    • Piper

Never mind, if the dock on the webtop has molded plastic on the top and bottom(not front and back) it wont fit. The Bionics connection are towards the top, The Atrix’s are towards the bottom, BUT they are similiar to most phones where it is USB over mini HDMI. So it might be able to work…in theory, and 1gb ram would help a lot with that experience though.

I swear, if you were to throw this device on T-Mobile and call it by any other name you guys would hate it and claim it’s junk, but just because “Droid Does” is in it’s advertisements you shallow minded people love it.
