Microsoft Kinect sales surpass 8 million units in first 60 days

During Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer’s keynote speech at the Consumer Electronics Show this evening, Microsoft confirmed some pretty outstanding sales figures for the Kinect sensor. The company’s initial projections at launch time set Kinect sales goals at 5 million units by the end of 2010. Today, Ballmer confirmed that Microsoft not only exceeded that projection — the company crushed it. Over the Kinect sensor’s first 60 days of availability, over 8 million units were sold. Xbox 360 users have spoken… Kinect is a smash hit.

      It is funny to see Microsoft straight up give the finger to its existing fanbase and are now trying to turn their RRoD/defect plagued console hardware into some sort of soccer mom Wii type device.

      Apple didn’t want this horrible Kinect tech.
      Nintendo didn’t want this horrible Kinect tech.
      Sony didn’t want this horrible Kinect tech.

      Microsoft was the only company desperate enough to finally jump on the motion control bandwagon years after Sony and Nintendo created it.

      It doesn’t take much imagination to see what a turd Kinect is when the only thing anyone talks about it are idiotic webcam style demos done of PCs.

Do you honestly think that because PS3 has been selling at a faster rate, that it means 10 > 20? Where is the logic? Are you just bypassing it altogether?
