Xperia Play (PlayStation Phone) poses for new round pictures

mobile

Sony Ericsson’s first PlayStation Phone, thought to be launching this spring as the Xperia Play, has been captured on film yet again. This new round of photos offers very little in the way of exciting new details, but there is at least one item of interest to be found: the hardware seen in the new shot, while not necessarily final, is definitely built more recently than the examples we’ve seen so far. As can be seen very clearly in the images, the device in these pictures now bears both Xperia and PlayStation branding, reinforcing the notion that the phone will not launch with the moniker “PlayStation Phone.” The newly photographed Gingerbread phone also has a more polished looking touchpad area between the d-pad and the gaming buttons, though the release version may still be further refined. Hit the jump for more images.

Only 1 question, how long is the battery life?

  • Ialwbahdb

I feel like if this was released 5 years ago it would be popular… Today? I don’t think so.

I’m really excited about this. All you “Android fanboys” are going to be so bummed about this new OS from Sony. I hear that their Gingerbread OS kicks Google’s butt and is totally customizable. I bet that the battle comes down to Apple versus Sony in the end, and Sony will win because it has games and can make calls.

      I Really hope you’re joking

Joking about what? That Sony is better than Google? Of course it is, particularly on phones.

        Trolls be trolling

Look at the Sony Experia above — Sony integrated a PSP into a phone with a lightening fast operating system. Google’s Nexus phone doesn’t play games, and their system isn’t as good.

        thats just norm….

Sony Ericsson’s track record on quality phones ranks below Kyocera, nub.

Idiot trolls. Andriod is the OS in which this phone uses. Really. I hope you really are kidding.

The most important question……….carrier? Plz say VZW

    • Kuttekaminelafangey

yes it is coming in Vzw first then global then At&T and then TMO USA

      • Paycuts for the New Year

Im not denying that what you say is true, but I havent seen anything that VZW gets it first.

Historically, of all carriers att has had the best relationship with Sony Ericsson. I cant remember the last time VZW sold a SE phone, if ever. Not to mention how strong VZW pushes Moto Droids – this might mean there isnt room for Ericsson.

I would be happy if you were correct and my suspicions are wrong.

Id like to see profile pictures for R1/R2 & L1/L2 buttons.

I have a bad feeling about the battery life…. 1500mah barely cuts it anymore with modern smartphones
