Verizon Wireless acquiring and registering Verizon iPhone domains?

mobile

It would appear that Verizon Wireless is buying Verizon iPhone-related domains from around the web. PocketNow is reporting that a company called “Verizon Trademark Services, LLC” has purchased iphoneforverizon.com as well as iphoneonverizon.com. The same corporation owns Verizon’s main domain, http://www.verizon.com, which legitimizes the company and makes this report seem factual. Who did Verizon Wireless allegedly buy the domains from? A gentleman named Jim Benton who has used the aforementioned domains as paid link farms. The sites still don’t forward to any official Verizon Wireless webpages, most likely to not draw any attention to the fact that the company has presumably been scooping up iPhone domains.

They have to make sure they’re in on every step, leading up to the day our lord and savior takes the stage to announce the iphone 4…again. That truly will be a magical moment!

Finally a phone that won’t come with a bunch of pre loaded crap from Verizon.

Trust me, you’d rather have the 6-8 MMB (measly megabytes) of “preloaded crap” than an outdated phone, running 3G only, with no way of customizing it.

Why the heck would I want a 4G phone if 4G is only available in 30 random cities spread across the big US. 4G is the Future but right now it’s not the time to buy a phone base on it.

      • Anonymous

Verizon 4G already covers over 1/3 of the population. (120 MILLION) I’m sure that will at least double within 6 months. Regardless, it will only go up from here. They are supposed to discuss 4G expansion at CES. So, yes 4G is now, and it’s worth buying a phone for. Btw, it’s 35 cities, 68 airports right now.

LMAO, you’re contradicting yourself. Verizon 4G doesn’t cover 120 million people, they just started deployment and that’s why it’s available only in 35 random cities. The US is not japan, the US is huge and it’s going to take a lot of time. 4G chips are also power hogs at the moment, add that to the minimal coverage and who ever gets a device right now just becomes a test guinea pig.

OK asshole, I hope you enjoy looking stupid. The US has 308 million people residing here. Verizon 4G covers 120 million, in 35 metro areas. Yes, that’s metro areas, not just cities. Go google it.

      • Anonymous

It’s 38 metro areas, covering 110 million. Still over 1/3.

Its not random citys like sprint, and its not the speeds of a 3g network like t-mobile, it covers 38 major cities all over the US. people on this site need to do some research before they start talking.

i dont understand, why would verizon want “verizonforiphone.com” wouldnt the tag be “verizon.com/iphone”?

    • Danls86

they could redirect the traffic to a url like that I’m guessing

@tim242 I have not dropped a call on t-mobile for over a year and a half. My hd2 works better in west central illinois than my buddy’s verizon phone. Unlike him, i can keep a call. lol

      Whatever

I think its quite funny just how fast people can go off topic and it seems like 90% of comments turn into an Apple vs. Android fight. :) Reading comments like these just amuse me

    • Goofan (aka Apple Hater)

That’s because we, Goofans (aka Apple Haters) believe that the world is a worst place with Apple in it and as such want to voice our opinions. Everything is manipulated by Apple, even the price of oil.

George Bush probably likes the iphone. Therefore we should all hate it.

  • GinaDee

Those domains were purchased in 2008. Nice try guys.

  • Iamajimm

geeeezz-you people are all morons, arguing over the relative merits of this phone or that os; i hate to say it but
Jobs was right: it’s only a phone stupid, get a life. the intense competition is making all us the real winners as these devices get better and better.
