Businessweek: Verizon iPhone to be announced by Valentine’s Day

mobile

According to a report from Bloomberg Businessweek on Wednesday, Apple will hold a special event by Valentine’s Day to introduce a new iPhone compatible with the Verizon Wireless network. The report mirrors one of two theories posed by BGR Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Geller earlier this month. Businessweek goes on to suggest that while the launch of an iPhone for Verizon Wireless could have a sizable impact on AT&T’s business, it will not be the “death blow” many have speculated. Even if AT&T loses as many as 6 million subscribers as a result of Verizon’s iPhone launch, Businessweek postulates, the lost revenue will only amount to 4.8% of the carrier’s projected 2011 sales.

I remember back in a time where if you had an iPhone, you were amazing. Now everyones going to have one, and the magic of the iPhone will wear off. Thats life.

Good, maybe we can stop hearing from the smug iSheep bastards for a while.

      • Goofan (aka Apple Hater)

That’s right and now we can start hearing from us superior Goofans (aka Apple Haters). We are a little worse than the iSheep because we simply go against ANYTHING Apple says no matter if it’s good or not, it simply goes against the grain for us, since we know we have way superior intellects.

        2/10

        Troll better next year.

        @Great_LOSER,

Fortunately I don’t get my sense of self and value from you. I, along with all Goofans (aka Apple Haters) get our sense of self and value from Google and then we share it back with them. Sorry Great_LOSER, but I feel honored with your scoring, since you are NOT very relevant buddy. Sorry… :-)

        Great_Loner,

Merry Christmas…happy new year, what should my new handle be? I’m giving up the whole Norm/DROID/VZW schtick and just wanna be myself again

      • lurch

Well, Norm, you gave it a good run. You shall be missed. I can kinda tell your heart hasn’t been in it for the last month or so.

      • Goofan (aka Apple Hater)

I don’t accept that buddy! You can’t abandon us. I won’t allow this!!!!!

its not true, and god willing it wont be true until summer of 2012. I am joining verizon soon, and I’m leaving att for a good reason, which im sure many would agree with. iPhone congestion!! The 1.4 million iphone users have been and still are clogging up the bandwidth pipes and essentially ruining service, and call quality/dependability for all the other users. The longer verizon avoids this plague the better!!

Android phones use more data than iphones. There are a lot more of those active on Verizon, than iphones on Att. The Verizon network has not suffered.

      • Anonymous

true but the death Star wasn’t designed for all the data traffic that the iphone has crippled it with in the last three years. It’s just frightening to think of the impact all these droids plus millions of people transferring over From Att too. You can’t say that it won’t. I mean there are literally hundreds of thousands of people waiting to switch for the veriphone and when they do, it’s gonna be ugly.

Verizon voice and data are not shared so it won’t have the problem of GSM.

  • Anonymous

Not to mention that CDMA is more efficient and provides better call quality than GSM. That’s why you never hear of dropped call problems on Verizon.

FYI: GSM = 6 calls per channel. CDMA = 50.

Whatever…. WSJ reported (AGAIN) the iPhone will be announced in January. Just shut up already with all of the pundits and their conjecture. They don’t know more than we do so just STOP!! Now it’s Valentine’s Day, then it’ll be St Patrick’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day…. Just go away!!!

I don’t know if VZW is getting the IPhone or not. I do know that both Apple and VZW have ramped up their hiring. This is very unusual considering the Jan, Feb and March are slow months for cell phone sales.

There is also the Android factor. Pretty much all the top manufacturers are putting out LTE phones this year. No matter what happens, it is going to be a great year for consumers, and Vzw.

    • Supercop

So is Sprint, microsoft, and HP (are hiring). Whats your point?

  • MicroNix

With hot phones like the HTC Thunderbolt coming Q1 with LTE, how is an iPhone 4 going to even be relevant anymore? It will be so 2010. Unless of course you don’t mind a phone already behind the curve.. :)

    • Goofan (aka Apple Hater)

The iPhone 4 is 1990 compared to Android phones. Android phones are the most advanced piece of technology EVER invented. You should see what I do with all my Android handsets and tablets.

The biggest blow will be to the take up of Android.

Few people will now chose Android when they can have a genuine iPhone. A search of the Internet clearly indicates many are upset with their painful and frustrating Android experience.

verizons cdma iphone will not affect att like people are speculating it will. especially once people see how the device exposes their network and bogs down their speeds people will realize all along that it wasnt att’s fault it was the device not the flipping service provider. people are always quick to assume its the service providers fault for everything. sure people will leave att but once they realize the mistake they made and the terrible customer service they get from customer care, middle men VZW dealers and national retail agents they will realize who truly cared and tried to help

    iPhone on Verizon in 2011?
    Keep dreaming.

  • Couzy

I really don’t understand. This so called verizon iPhone has supposedly been coming out since 2008. Why don’t they just give up on the rumors. All this is doing is completely ruining the credibility of anyone who makes these comments bway to go wsj and businessweek, you are wrong again!

This would be great for me because I’m eligible for an upgrade at the beginning of February.

Here is my prediction of what the banner for Apple’s media event will look like if the iPhone is announced for Verizon… A bunch of red ants carrying an iPhone 4. Haha get it?
