RadioShack continues $50 iPhone discount; additional incentives for iPhone trade-ins

Retail

RadioShack’s $50 iPhone discount promotion was, according to the company, wildly successful. How successful you ask? The Shack’s PR team hit us up to boast that a “record setting number of phones” were sold earlier in the month. And what better way to stave off the holiday sales hangover than to keep the discounts coming, no? “Starting Wednesday, December 29, RadioShack will offer $50 off every iPhone 4 16G and iPhone 3G S for new and eligible upgrade customers while supplies last,” reads an email sent to BGR. If you happen to be upgrading from an iPhone 3G or 3GS, The Shack is offering additional savings to those willing to trade in your old iDevice. “Qualifying iPhone 3G and 3G S handsets will have a guaranteed trade-in credit of $75 and $125, respectively.” To qualify your device has to “power on, cannot be PIN locked and must be in fully functional, working condition without any broken components.” iPhone 3GS upgraders would be able to acquire a 16GB iPhone 4 for a measly $24 after the $50 instant discount and $125 trade-in credit. Not too shabby. The deal does not have a set end-date, but RadioShack does note that interested parties should call their local store to check product availability.

We don’t need to go into the resale value of DROIDs (though for some reason they are much less than iphone on craigslist), but this just shows how desperate crApple and Steve Jobs really are.

RadioShack’s new motto: Do everything possible to sell phones, including making no profit while doing it!

I took advantage of this Radio Shack deal. I traded in my perfect 3GS for the iP4. Very sorry I did this. Zero reception with iPhone 4 now. I cannot talk in my home office. My trusty 3GS worked everywhere. Looking like my iPhone4 is headed for the trash bin. Soon to be talking on some other type of device.

Reset the network settings, sometimes that helps.

Settings-> General-> Reset-> touch the reset networks settings

      hope that helps.

The radioshack trade in offers are great, but if you search on the internet there are better ways to offset the cost of your old phones. Try a cash for electronics site like buybackworld – I got $193 for my old 3GS in a week, which means I could’ve upgraded for free and then some. Always worth it to shop around :)

I traded an iPod for an iPhone 4 and don’t see no reason to have any other phone. Consumers have one thing bad, there lack of understand in business. I will give to you first and fore most because in the long term I will profit and succeed! If you don’t understand the concept of giving then you will have no business. There’s a reason Radioshack is around as long as they have been and a reason why Apple is the most innovative company and ahead of everyone in this industry. Apple is your future and you really don’t have no where else to go!

I bought 2 iPhone 4′s from RS and a couple of weeks later they announced the $50.00 off deal for the first time. I called a few RS stores and they all offered the price match since I had bought the phones less than 30 days ago and I was able to get $50.00 + taxes back on both phones.

Coming from an Xperia X1a, the iphone 4 is definitely much better reception-wise. I used to get 1 bar at work and with the iPhone 4 I get about 3 bars at work and I can make and receive calls just fine. However, my 3G signal in my apartment is only a tad bit better than the Xperia X1a. Elsewhere I get great reception and pretty good call quality. This is my first iPhone and I love it so far.

I got the Shack deal a couple of weeks ago. I loved my iPhone 3Gs but parted with it and traded it in. I know I could’ve sold it for much more but the convenience of trade in got me in the store. With the $50 off and the $125 trade in value, I paid $25 plus the $40 tax. Great deal, and the iPhone 4 is more than worth the full price upgrade from the 3Gs. There is no match for the screen. It’s performance is excellent on games and video, and it flies on the internet. It was painful to be on the internet on other smartphones I’ve used. The still/video camera alone keeps me from carrying an extra device. No antenna issues, but AT&T service is inconsistent anyway no matter what kind of phone you have. iPhone bashers, say what you want, there is no other phone out there that get the things you need to get done or play with such ease and efficiency.

I called my local Radio Shack and they said this deal was old and they did not have this deal anymore. Is it only certain stores that have this promotion?

I upgraded my wife’s and my 3g’s to the 4′s with no hassle on Dec 31. Got the trade-in AND the discount. I called a few Radio Shack’s ahead of time – only a few acknowledged the resumption of the discounted offer. The store I did get the full deal from said the deal ended on Dec 31. I asked why the other stores weren’t offering the deal and the saleswoman said it had been announced on an internal email – apparently some store salespeople are pretty bad about reading their email.
