O2 Germany: HTC 7 Pro set to launch in January

General

According to German carrier O2, the HTC 7 Pro — a full-QWERTY, horizontal sliding, Windows Phone 7 device — will hit store shelves sometime in January. The set has been, up till this point, rumored for U.S. based CDMA carrier Sprint, however, O2 uses GSM technology. The device boasts a 1 GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, and a 3.6-inch display that tilts towards its user. No word on whether or not the GSM variant will show-up Stateside, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.

A phone a day keeps the fragmentation today.

It hurts me to say this, but here is the reality of it. No company, not even Google and their excellent DROID OS, can compete with just one device against crApple’s one iphone. You have to come out with several models each month in order to saturate the market. You’ve got to spend millions on large media campaigns explaining how DROID DOES when it often really doesn’t. Toe to toe the iphone may beat every device out there, but with the combined power of 100+ DROID models crApple has crumbled once and for all.

Lol, the iphone can’t TOUCH my HD2!

I’m curious. Do companies put the word “pro” as part of the device name for a reason? Are they trying to market them as enterprise ready devices? I also notice that all “Pro” devices have physical keyboards. Other than this feature, what’s the difference between the “pro” version and the non-pro version that makes one a consumer phone and the other an enterprise phone?

Pro stands for “too old to get used to a touch screen keyboard.”

Alternatively, some of us actually prefer this crazy little thing called “tactile feedback.” I know it’s hard for you to believe, but it’s true.

In this case, the “pro” might be for “professional”, like “business professionals”, because this is the target market for this phone, like it was for the Touch Pro 2, the actual model/predecessor of this new model.

I’m going to ask a question… that may be a stupid question… Why is the ‘Y’ and the ‘Z’ keys switched around? Is that common on German Keyboards?

HTC still makes some of the best damn keyboards around.

Never used an HTC keyboard so I can’t dispute your comment. However, I would be very impressed if it’s better than even the low-end BB keyboards.

I am confused, along with Goofans (aka Apple Haters) around the world. Isn’t HTC an Android maker??? Why would they make stuff for a loser OS like WM7 when they are selling billions upon billions of Android phones. Could it be they are conflicted???? Help Goofans (aka Apple Haters)!!!!!!

    • mwahahaha

HTC originally made windows mobile devices

      • Goofan (aka Apple Hater)

Still, their success has come swiftly on Android. They along with 20 other manufacturers and countless models of phones have DESTROYED Apple. I think they were confused. They thought it was an Android device but then realized it was WP7??? Wicked weird. :-)

WP7 will be HUGE. Take my word. It’s simple but beautiful and does what it does, well.
