HTC promising to be ‘first to 4G again’ on January 6th

Hardware

We’ve seen several shots of what we presume to be the HTC Incredible HD over the last few days, and now, it looks like we have a firm date for the official unveiling. A mobile website owned by HTC that depicts a smartphone with a black cloak over it announces that the company will be “the first to 4G, again” on January 6th. Now, since Verizon has a CES keynote planned for that very date, we’re assuming that the Incredible HD (or whatever name it may go under thereafter) will be showcased as VZW’s first LTE handset. This year’s CES is shaping up to be a doozy, make sure to keep it locked on BGR to keep updated on the latest and greatest!

Thanks, Robert!

As an Evo owner strongly considering a move to the new Android LTE phone on Verizon, I only hope that battery life will be better on the new phone. This is the only problem with the Evo, but it is a big one.

HTC DOES NOT do battery life like Motorola DROIDs do. My DROID Incredible gets maybe half the battery life my DROID X and DROID 2 get. Maybe its their Sense garbage, but either way its making DROID look bad.

It’s a bit of a trade off I agree. HTC definitely uses more battery than Motorola, However… HTC Sense is without a doubt the best Android overlay placed by a manufacturer. It is faster and more attractive than Motorolas Blur overlay. I have an Incredible and while the battery life could be better you can easily tell the quality difference when playing with the handsets side by side.

For the DInc, you just buy a 1750 mAh extended life battery (with the same form factor), problem solved (what I did)

I don’t like Sense UI either — replace with Launcher Pro Plus — problemo solved.

4G is irrelevant as marketing strategy. What does it also say when you’re in a race with your self? Good for you… HTC, you out ran your last distance by 2 steps?

They could call it 6G for all anyone cares, it’s not a big deal. Not to the general public or to the enterprise users. This is only relevant to the technically savvy, who need to compensate for other short comings.

Everyone needs 4G, just like everyone needed the biggest map of 3G coverage. That is why VZW is so successful. We tell what you need and you get it. Just like DROID DOES. RULE THE AIR!

I’d reserve the We tell you what you need and you get it statements for Apple. They tell customers they want the least functional touchscreen smartphone on the market but somehow the lowercase i makes up for all the features you lose buying the thing.

If its packing an LCD screen they can keep it…Hello its 2011, super Amo or better guys!

There are not enough super Amo screens available for current products being manufactured. Where are they suppose to get screens that have been experiencing huge shortages since the first of the year? If they can’t be manufactured, they can’t be used.

    4G VoIP? Let’s hope so.
