Verizon Wireless branded Windows Phone 7 apps surface in Marketplace

Software

If you’re waiting for a Windows Phone 7 device on Big Red, we have some encouraging news for you. It appears as though Verizon compatible WP7 applications are starting to make their way into the Windows Phone Marketplace. VZW is rumored to be launching a Windows Phone handset sometime after the New Year, but the presence of these Verizon-specific applications seems to hint that the timeframe could be shortly after January 1st. Anyone have plans to pickup a Windows Phone 7 set from Verizon Wireless?

I’ve been recommending it for my dad. He uses a 2008 Curve and it’s awful. I think Android is too complex for him, so a nice WP7 phone should do the trick.

I’m an I.T. consultant and I can’t wait for this to happen. Bought the Samsung Focus on AT&T – loved the phone, service just didn’t work. Bring it on!

I probably will, Android is nice and all but sometimes i just get tired of waiting for the next build to come, whether it is Gingerbread or whatever. I just got a good update of 2.2 for the Droid X, and 2.3 is already out on another device.

After living for almost two years with the Samsung Omnia, I’ve squeezed as much out of WinMo as I care to. I’ve cooked the ROM up to 6.5 but it was still underwhelming. The one shining point was the integration with Office apps, OneNote was a big hit with me and will be missed as I upgrade in April.
I’ve got to switch to the Droid. I’m thinking something in a dual core LTE models will be ripe at that point…can’t wait.

    That’s encouraging.

Well it’s either that or the iPhone for the Mom. (Android would probably confuse the crud out of her)
Let’s see which one can get here first.

I tried WP7 out at BestBuy and I feel it is pretty user friendly like the iphone. Plus the UI is actually kind of cool despite its awkward appearance.

Yeah, I put a wp7 launcher on my android briefly(granted it’s not the full experience) but I am intrigued by the new layout.

    Do I hear LTE WP7???

Perhaps we’ll see an LTE Windows Phone 7 device at CES, along with the other Android offerings.

Either way, Windows Phone 7 is a joke lol

If the iPhone isn’t on VZW by summers end, I’ll be all over the MS phone 7

I am wtg on my NE2 to kick in. Have DROID now and can’t justify buying a brand new phone when the one I have works alright, although it had felt slow.

+1, but I may need to bite the bullet. My droid has served me well but I’m a windows house and simply want a good phone with solid basic apps…not 100,000 cr@p apps and a few good ones. If I could get the hd 7 pro on vzw (or similar size/feel) it would be hard for me to resist.

Sounds good. I really like the interface. I’m stuck (I use the term lightly) with my Evo for the time being, but hope to get on WP7 as soon as possible.

If it’s a global device I’ll buy it on day 1, if it has LTE that would be HUGE. I was surprisingly disappointed in Android (recently bought my wife an Incredible) – too many craplets on the phone for my wife – far too much useless on it, and far too reliant on google’s services. Wife just wants maps, occasional net, and good email/calendar/contact sync – win7 seems simple for that.

I’ve had no real problems with my HTC Ozone. I don’t use GMail, I don’t synch to an Exchange server, but I DO use Outlook. So Windows is my only choice for a native Sync. So, I’m hoping the Win7 phones aren’t as bad as some of the reviews make them out to be.

If Android had a native Outlook sync software package I’d probably already have one. But it seems that Android pretty much requires you to use GMail which I don’t want/need to do. So no Android for now.

I loved my old WM phone but that was BEFORE I made the quantum leap to Droid world…I can’t imagine going back

    • Anonymous

WP7 is a quantum leap from the WM of old and even android. That extra crappy and stuttery pinch to zoom on android is buttery smooth on WP7… same with all UI elements and browsing. The lack of interface polish on android has turned me off of them. At this stage, i dont want a beta-like product with the gross neglect of polish that the other OSes have.

Yeap same here, Windows mobile phone used to be popular here, but now people are jumping to Android, as to Windows phone 7, who cares.

MS is really stupid when it comes to cell phone OS.

    meee!!! So excited

  • Jro1170

I have been testing a windows 7 phone on att and I like it, except the network. When vzw releases it I will drop my droid and give ms one more chance.
