Verizon introduces Mobile Email 4.0, brings Exchange to feature phones

Software

Think you can avoid having corporate email on your mobile device by buying a feature phone? Think again, as today Verizon Wireless announced an update to its feature phone email solution, Mobile Email 4.0. The downloadable application will allow users to connect their non-smartphone devices to Microsoft’s Exchange environment, leverage push email, and utilize an integrated contact list. The service will retail for $5 per month and is available to those with a data plan of at least $15 per month. The software is currently compatible with eight VZW phones, including the Samsung Zeal, LG Cosmos Touch, and Pantech Crux. Hit the read link for the full PR.

So what are you are saying is that people using feature phones enjoyed not have corporate email access on them? That’s a strange way of looking at it, but would figure someone would prefer the feature phone for other reasons. I think if feature phones had the ability to do everything, that would make them more enticing.

    But that’s just me…

Um. So feature phone users, most of which wouldn’t know Exchange if it bit them in the arse, can now have access to a service they’ll likely never use?

    K, got it. Thx.

So let me make sure I am clear on this…Verizon offers Exchange support with a $15 data plan on “feature” phones, BUT I still have to pay for a $45 data plan to get Exchange support for my Blackberry! Brilliant Verizon. Another reason I will be leaving soon.

You realize that Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon all charge a $15-$20 premium for BB Enterprise? Also, if your company supports OWA (Outlook Web Access), you can access corp email with the standard $15-$30 data packs.
