iPhone 4 only $147 at Sam’s Club; iPhone 3GS is $47

Following RadioShack’s lead, it appears as though Sam’s Club will be offering discounts on Apple smartphones for the holidays. A purportedly leaked memo states that the discount retailer will be selling Apple’s iPhone 4 (16 GB) for $147 with a 2-year AT&T service contract. This represents the lowest price we’ve seen to date on a new iPhone 4, though only by $3. Sam’s Club will also apparently give Apple’s iPhone 3GS the same $52 discount, with new units costing just $47 during the promotional period. According to the unconfirmed memo, the sale is set to run from now until Christmas Day.

Clearly Sam’s Club hires illegal immigrants to handle their memos since this one clearly can’t spell worth a shit.

    • Which way is Up?

Funny you should say that William, as I know so many American’s that can’t spell worth a shit either…

Back to the post, I wonder how much total for an iPhone 4 and ETF? Anyone?

    • Goofan (aka Apple Hater)

Are you shitting me DIAZ? Most people that see your name (like mine) will assume that because it sounds LATIN, we are illegal. Nice job. As my family says “No hay peor madera que la del mismo palo!” I am sure you understood that.

I actually agree with Goofan on this one.

Android needs to do something, 75% of Android users are not satisfied even to warrant the purchase of a Android phone. That and 59% of Verizon customers say they want an iPhone.

    • Scott

Interesting statistics with no facts (although I do believe you’re right about 59% of VZW customers that are interested in the iPhone). I may be of the minority, but I’m actually going to switch from iPhone to Android once the Olympus comes out in January. I’ve used an iPhone for 2.5 years and after how bad the antenna was on the iPhone 4 and how poorly Apple handled that (and also failed to launch the white iPhone 4) I will gladly be welcoming a powerhouse of an Android phone.

First, this post was meant for another article. Now on to the reply.

I find it interesting that the antenna issue bothered you. You say you have had an iPhone for 2.5 years so my guess is that you never owned an iPhone 4. Trying to figure out how the antenna “issue” affected you exactly. 14 million people seem to say that their iPhone 4′s work rather well. Of course, that number is different than the 16 million people that have bought the iPhone this Quarter.
Switch to whatever works best for you I say.

Scott is just really excited to get rid of his iphone 3G which he got in 2008. I can understand that. With cellular technology improving expinentially and Apple not stepping up to the plate to deliver 40+ iphones a year who could refuse android? Though Scott may have no experience with the iphone 4 I can assure you he read that someone did posting on a blog site somewhere is basically owning the phone.

Just wait. Once it is finally announced on Verizon, the AT&T phone cost, monthly plan cost, and possibly even the ETF will drop rapidly. AT&T does not stand a chance head-to-head with Verizon if they both have the same iPhone. Now things get even more interesting if Verizon gets an LTE version or even just a fixed antenna-gate issue.

I can see some interesting marketing from AT&T in the near future. I’m holding out for some more competition before I get the iPhone 4.

Guess I’ll get my old man one for Christmas!

Actually buying the phone is the cheapest part of owning one. A 2 year contract requied to get the price is on the order of over $2000. When you have to deal with the device for 2 years, why settle for something cheap just to save 1/20th to 1/40th the cost of ownership? Not against the iphone 3gs or anything, but in relation to similar offers.
