Google’s App Inventor now for mere mortals, available to all with Google account

Back in July, Google introduced its App Inventor; a dead-simple, drag and drop application creator for the Android operating system. In a press release today, the company announced that due to an “overwhelming” amount of interest it is launching the application as a beta service, available to all those who have a Google account. “We are so impressed with the great things people have done with App Inventor, we want to allow more people the opportunity to do great things,” writes Google. The App Inventor, which is web-based, is now live for all those interested. Hit the jump for a quick video and let us know if you make your very first Android app.

    I’ve been hard at work for 48 minutes writing what may be the greatest DROID app ever. It is a countdown clock to each new DROID release by VZW. While you may think such an app is stupid because a new DROID comes out monthly like clock work, there is actually much more. It also comes with a built in expense calculator so you can learn to save up enough each month to two months to buy that new DROID only from VZW. This app will truly revolutionize the DROID buying experience.

    The good news is there aren’t enough garbage apps allowed into the market as it is. Let’s make sure every 12 year old and soccer mom can make an app to remember their vacuuming schedule.

    Yeah I made my first app with app inventor. I didn’t know anything about coding at all. I even found out how to put it on the market. It’s been their since the 21st or 22nd of December. Check it out and comment on it in the Android Market. It’s called Slate It!
