Apple may be prepping new MacBook Pro, iMac models for 1H 2011 release

Rumor

In a new report Thursday, DigiTimes claims that Apple is working on upgraded MacBook Pro and iMac models that will launch in the first half of 2011. The report cites “sources from upstream component makers” in suggesting Apple has at least four refreshed MacBook Pro models on tap, which will have slightly updated chasis designs. It also states that the company will release an iMac model with a new display size and a lower price point. The new computers will be manufactured by Foxconn and Quanta, and DigiTimes’ sources estimate 2011 Apple notebook shipments to be in the range of 13 to 14 million units.

Hopefully they can get a i5, preferably quad core into the 13 inch Pro. That’s what I’m really waiting for. That thing would freaking scream! Combine that with an SSD and it’d blow your mind. My guess is the redesigned chassis is to make room for a 16:9 screen instead of the 16:10s they’ve been using. Maybe higher resolution on the 13 inch… that’d be nice.

I’m waiting for a 13 inch Pro that deserves the pro moniker.

How is this news worthy? Aren’t updates expect? Product refreshes is what keeps a company relevant. If you were to have new news that they were releasing new updates in the next week or two I may be interested but for something that might be 6 months away… Really???
