Dell wants to pay you $25 to take a Motorola DROID X

mobile

Dell is offering a limited-time promotion on the Motorola DROID X that will net customers a $25 Dell gift card. Through Dell’s online mobility shop, the Motorola DROID X is currently available for free with a two-year Verizon Wireless agreement. Dell is also waiving Verizon’s activation fee, shipping the handset for free via FedEx and offering customers one $25 Dell gift card per order. If there’s a sweeter deal out there for Motorola’s supersized DROID smartphone, we haven’t found it. Dell is also still offering the same deal on the HTC DROID Incredible.

Why do you (and Verizon and some posters) use all caps when you type out Droid? Its not an acronym like RIM or HTC.

    • WTF

      Cause B!TCH.. It’s DROID. It’s the best.

That’s why Dell is paying you to get one.

Because that’s the way Motorola wants it. Just like the “iP” in iPhone, companies have specific ways they want their products referred to. They communicate these desires to the members of the press in various ways. The phone’s official name is DROID X – you see it that way in all of Verizon’s and Motorola’s press and marketing pieces. Go browse their websites and see for yourself. The people who write “Droid” are actually getting it wrong, technically.

Why do you do it under the guise of norm?

      • Norm

I just got off work from my post with VZW and noticed this Jarret has Walter’s picture? Weird?

It’s stylistic. I do find it unusual that companies like Samsung and Toshiba, that both have their logos in all-caps are still spelled “normal”. I guess company logo is different then the name of a product. And then companies that have all lowercase letters (at&t) are usually spelled in all caps (AT&T). I know, it’s odd. Don’t really care though.

Didn’t know the Streak was selling THAT badly.

Does Dell own some stocks in Verizon???

    • sirpaul

That’s what I was thinking too. What is their connection with VZW.

    this phone isn’t worth it
tons of problems from the start..
check the droidx forums – there are many issues that are not resolved…

Who handles Dell’s Mobile site? Wirefly or Letstalk?

  • Anonymous

Because they can’t even give them away…they’re a POS…so they need to give $$ to people to take them, then they can inflate their numbers and say “Look how many handsets we sold!!!”

I can understand selling another companies product when you are getting kickbacks on the service contracts, only when you don’t sell in the same category, but they have phones….
I guess they just want some of that sweet CDMA money?
Also what happened to those slick Dell Android handsets that were supposed to come out this month like the lightning and thunder?

No thanks. My iPhone is a better piece of shit.

  • NewsWorthy

FYI: If you didn’t already know, this is only valid on the primary line of your account. If you have a family plan and intend to upgrade a phone that is not the primary line, YOU PAY! In a case like this, the price is $129 if I remember correctly but you do still get the $25 Dell Gift Card. Just my $.02. Not sure what it’s worth to you guys. Deuces!

DROID is an acronym, it stands for:

    D-roid
    R-eally
    O-utdoes
    I-Sheep
    D-umb$hits

    X’-ponentially

And that, of course, includes out of work Contract Lawyers here in Manhattan with horrible plastic surgery.

Besides, all Android Super Smartphones, EVO included, deserve all capital letters; so as not to be mistaken as a Windows im’Mobile Device.

Droids are for stupid, ugly, people with tiny penises. iPhones are for smart, handsome, well hung people. I’m guessing your a Droid person.

        HEY!
I take offense to that! I have average intelligence, average genitals. The ugly thing though, I can’t argue with you there.

        I’m guessing you’re about 51? Check out -ssa.gov- !

Care to weigh in on this Norm? Can’t even give them away.

Anyone on this site who calls themselves “snookie”, quantifies it with a birth year, and is defensive about the Intelligence Quotient of iSheep only proves to affirm “their” actual intelligence level, or lack thereof. And, I am not a “DROID” person; the correct reference would be “Android” person, but, of course, with your limited iNtelligence it must be difficult. As for size and dimension, your mom sure was happy.

this deal only works if your starting a new contract, or upgrading your primary line. Any other lines on the account will still cost you 129.99.

If the X is as big a Piece Of Shit as my three (original and two replacements) Droid 2 Globals were, I’d have to have someone pay me to buy another Motorola Android device. I like Android, but I’m done with the shit that Motorola is shoveling.

Why the fucked will Dell do that is it because their Streak sucks and is out of date Android device?
