Sounds like a great launch. Hopefully that will coincide with the release of 2.3 to other handsets.

Much better than the original Nexus launch.

What about the DROID Nexus S? When is that launching?

      Hello MgI323,

We are very happy you are interested in the DROID line and in particular the DROID Nexus S. However I regret to inform you we will not be offering the Nexus S in any form on VZW. However we will be offering a comparable DROID version in late Q2 2011. It will be specially optimized for the VZW network so you can get the most out of the DROID OS and VZW’s best MAP. DROID DOES!

      • Captainobvious

Poor Norm…. still no life, huh. Hopefully you will get those Tele-Tubby DVD’s from Santa soon. Or maybe you can ask Santa for an iTunes card and download them?

LMAO! I’m sure Dinkie Winkie is his favorite…

Shows you what a bafoon you are…using DROID to cover anything/everything Android. You do realize that DROID is Motorola? Then again, maybe not…

Time to move out of your parents basement…

Ok, Does this phone have 720p HD capture or NO?? I thought it didn’t but now BGR says it does….someone please clarify

    • Mgl323

It does support 720p HD video recording.

      • Anonymous

Um, it definitely doesn’t. There’s also no such thing as a DROID Nexus S. I’m baffled as to where you’re getting this info from. Side note: I’ll still be getting this!

    • http://twitter.com/HolidayNC Mr. Holiday

Chances are it won’t be supported in stock form; however, if it has an identical camera to the Galaxy S and the Galaxy S has 720p recording capability, it will more than likely be able to be software patched to “unlock” the capability. The Nexus One didn’t have 720p recording out of the box, but I’ve been able to do so on my N1 for almost a year now thanks to CyanogenMod. Considering that this is a newer device with a newer OS version and a faster processor, a homebrewed hack to enable 720p (perhaps a different kernel?) is easy to anticipate.

    no hspa+ no care

    It’s a Samsung, so I’ll pass!

this thing’s ugly as hell. Storm2 sucks but this is even worse

Well there will be nothing new from Apple until next summer so who will remember what an iPhone is by then?

Reminds of the brilliant Palm Pre launch.

I spent three months trying to buy an iphone 4 – not trying anymore.

Let’s see what else is out there.

How do you try to buy an iPhone…walk into a number of stores and buy one, or if you’re that lazy order it online…

  • iDeadBaby

I hope to god it’s a working demo.

    • http://twitter.com/BigJawnMize Will Wagner

BTW…what is with non working demos these day. These phones are all about how the software runs on any particular device. To sell these things stores need to remove themselves from the hardware centric mindset they are in and realize this is now a game that is 90% relying on software and quality of signal.

  • Sean76

I was under the assumption that it didn’t have 720P? What’s the story BGR…

Damn you Google! Will you please throw us a bone over here at AT&T land?

Only phone geeks read sites like these. Most people still never ever heard of the Nexus One.

What makes this phone special is that it will be sold by a major US retailer from the get go. Everyone in metro areas has a Best Buy near them.

So even if Nexus S commercials don’t hit the airwaves in mass people will still go to Best Buy and this phone will be pitched to the buyer. When a customer comes in looking for new service they will be shown this device. When a T-Mobile sub comes in and wants to upgrade or add a line he/she will be shown this too.

16 GB of internal memory is plenty of memory for the average consumer buying this product. Samsung just needs to make it easy for customers to transfer media from their PC to their phone or vice versa.

Consumers are fine with HSDPA 7.2 Mbps speeds on mobile phones. It’s enough speed to do everything they want and they are less likely to hit those T-Mobile speed throttling caps that 21 Mbps geek phone would bring them to so much faster.

Best Buy reps should show customers how easy it is to use the Mobile HotSpot feature for free wireless broadband on the go since T-Mobile won’t charge customers for this feature on this phone.

Compared to 2 years ago there are now so many quality useful apps on the Android MarketPlace and the specs on most new Android’s are decent (this one is no exception).

This phone is actually very attractive (in person); much more so than the photos do for it.

    • Firefight16

Make it simplier? Plug it in select Connect USB storage and treat it like any other hard drive/memory stick drag and drop!

  • duest

    Does it support 720p recording?

16gb of onboard user storage and no card slot to expand it… A ‘launch-plan’ isn’t really necessary, much less an announcement of it.

Nothing more than a press release in hopes of generating publicity for a device that won’t break any sales records. Only tech blog sites like this one have run with the press-release, this isn’t a device that will set any trends…

does anyone know if tmo will have a 30-day trial like sprint did with the EVO? that would be awesome if they did because I’m not sure i want to buy a samsung phone, plus gingerbread will be available for other android phones so that doesnt really sweeten the deal.

  • guitar

this is awesome you would think that Google would have had the best android phone from the get go.. it only makes sense. i am glad to see a competitive phone from Google hitting the market at an attractive price point
