Android Market update begins rolling out

mobile

Google announced Monday that an update to the Android Market has started rolling out to devices. On its Android Market Facebook page, Google stated that the Market refresh will be pushed out to all devices running Android 1.6 or later over the next two weeks. Some users have already reported receiving the update, which apparently creates a much more appealing Market experience. Among the listed improvements are a better UI, faster searches, more information about apps and an improved ratings system.

Meanwhile, Blackberry Appworld reached its 150th app milestone. Grats!

I think the take home fact here is that the DROID market is the best app market out there. DROID simply DOES and it keeps DOESing.

I agree, DROID Market is way better than the Android Market. There’s just no comparison!

Yay for losing 24hr trial period and having it down to 15mins! Now thats progress.

Developers were mad over that and I can understand why. Though 15mins is such little time, might as well not have it. 1 hour would have been a great compromise.

I agree an hour is good. 15 is almost to short.

      • Booboolala2000

for the most part. Apps are bought on the spur of the moment. this will certainly slow that portion of buyers. 15 is really short. Buyer beware.

I can’t understand why they would be mad?!?! I can totally understand if consumers get mad but it is beyond me that the developers would get mad!

Maybe they don’t want to retain any sales?!? Mabye Google should just remove the refund time limit all together so customers can return the app whenever they please… maybe then the DroidTards will finally be happy!

I don’t know if this is true, but someone commented on Twitter that the 15 minute limit was for the “single click” refund and you would still be able to get a refund within 24 hours, but it would be more involved.

      If true, that still sucks.

It’s cute and cuddly like a kitten.

    It’s too bad they can’t roll-out 2.3 to devices running 1.6.

    • Bringit

      Or 4567.

    • Colbyrascol

its not google that rolls out those kinds of updates, its their carriers. dont blame google because you have a shitty device that still runs 1.6. if you really care, root your phone.

      • Norm

If you really care you get something quality…which in reality is not DROID… but since I get paid to be the DROID Division chief for VZW I will sell DROID all day long.

So you’re really just a paid fanboy instead of a devout believer?

      • Norm

I’m just a marketing genius…someone could package fecal matter and I could sell it…I mean hell, look how well DROID has done

      • monkeydroid

Actually the Droid line is probably some of the best android phones you can get compared to the MyTouch blah blah blah or the LG Blah blah blah or the Samsung Galaxy Fail

        Someone didn’t take their medicine…

      • Booboolala2000

Yeah Norm, just look what you did with the iPhone.

Anyone have the Google Maps update yet?

  • http://twitter.com/billgrove billgrove

I am glad they are doing something. It was AWFUL. I only use appbrain, which is a FAR better user experience, as well as loaded with a LOT more apps. I’ll certainly give the new market a try when I get it!

Yes, Appbrain is a nice market interface, but you seem to be a little confused about what it actually does. Appbrain doesn’t actually host any application files, it’s just a different frontend for the regular Google Android market. So it would be impossible for Appbrain to have more apps than the place where the actual app files are stored.

Geez finally BGR! This is Friday night news!

    manual update?

  • http://www.hot.com.au/ Luis Garcia

More information about apps will always be appreciated. I still haven’t seen the update though, so I have to reserve judgment until then.

App market still has tons of plagiarized and illegal content. I wouldn’t care so much if it wasn’t chock full of so much junk and abandoned apps.
