Front, rear iPad 2 cameras reaffirmed by new report

Tablets

A new report Friday cites news from component suppliers in claiming Apple’s next-generation iPad tablet will include front and rear-facing cameras. The report reaffirms rumors that have existed since the summer, shortly after Apple introduced FaceTime alongside the iPhone 4. FaceTime, which is now supported by the iPhone 4 and Apple’s most recent iPod touch model, is a video chat service usable only by Apple products. It makes sense, of course, that Apple would want to expand the service to include the iPad, which continues to sell extremely well. Apple reportedly chose a camera supplier for the iPad last month, selecting Largan Precision, which also supplies cameras for the iPhone 4. Apple is expected to begin manufacturing its next iPad, commonly referred to as the “iPad 2,” early next year. A launch is expected in March or April.

Apple product getting what now is a standard feature on tablets makes front page news. Let’s all come to our senses, plz.

this is what apply is known for lol

Yeah, but it’s Apple! Everybody loves Apple!

I think Facetime should be available on PC as well. It would make a lot more sense to conference via Facetime since most business users use PC.

    • D Town Tony

I just use Skype for that.

      • sirpaul

Skype is great, but Apple product owners will be hung up on using Facetime with their iProducts.

    • Mgl323

      Agreed.

    • Drew

No!! I will not call it Facetime. It’s call Video calling or Video Chat and has been done since 2003. Or, more generally known as “Skype-ing”. Please, please do not start with the Apple buzz words for technology that has existed for years. Same thing with “Retina Display”. No such animal, it is just a very hi-res display that Apple wants to market the name with…

      • D Town Tony

The only reason its called a “Retina Display” is because “retina” is a prettier word to use instead of “eye” in which case it would be called an “Eye Display” which would be soooooooo obviously changed to “i Display” and i + Display = iDisplay…..so in reality its called an iDisplay. Well done Apple! You almost got that past me. Luckily my eyes caught the play on words………er……should I say my retinas picked up the light that created the image that allowed me to catch your play on words….you clever clever SOBs!

  • D Town Tony

This is why Apple is so smart. Every model just add one thing that should be standard and people will keep updating. I’m defiantly gonna pick up the iPad 14…..I hear it MIGHT have multitasking! 2023 cant get here soon enough!

But when MS delays copy-paste a few months everyone freaks out and starts talking about how MS is sooo behind the times…You’re right. But it’s working for them…It isn’t a problem with them, they are just catering to the fanboys :) Even I get excited hearing the latest Apple keynote. I don’t know how they do it!

      • D Town Tony

I agree, I think the funniest part is when people b*tch about RIM, MS, and others being “behind” the times. I remember several little fanbabies posting about the PlayBook already being outdated, and then this type of news drops and its supposed to be earth shattering “OOOOOOH GEEEEEEE CAMERAS! GENIUS! APPLE DOES IT AGAIN! ITS MAGICAL! GAME-CHANGER!!!!!”

I read reviews of WP7 saying to the effect “this is 2010, it’s outrageous WP7 doesn’t have multitasking,” when fcuking iOS only got gimped multitasking early this year. And iPad didn’t even get it until 2 months ago.

        Makes me rage.

      • D Town Tony

Don’t rage. Just do what i do, go mock the same 150 people that get inline every six months for the new version of the iDevice they bought less than a year ago. Sometimes I just mock, other times i’ll chuck a water balloon or two, maybe some eggs. And don’t worry about them retaliating, the majority are 12 year old girls or the kind of guy that wears thick black-rimmed glasses, while the rest are to afraid to lose their spot in line. Either way its a great way to kill a couple hours.

I’ve had my iPad since May and I have never once thought, damn I wish this thing had a camera. How about they skip the camera and make this thing weight less.

  • DeathStarKiller

out of all the Apple products, the ipad is the dumbest. Anytime I see someone carrying one I around the first thing i think is “fag”. its retarded. Literally retarded. why do u need an ipad if u already have iphone, ipod and every other Apple product (they all look identical, a testament to just how “revolutionary” Apple is. Apple sucks balls. Apple fans sucks balls. Steve Jobs shouold succumb to cancer soon. the sooner, the better. Die Apple.

  • Andre

Everybody knew that this was coming. I heard the Ipad is nice though.
