New PlayStation Phone videos show PlayStation app

mobile

New videos of the still unannounced Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone emerged Friday, giving us our best look yet at the upcoming gaming phone. Codenamed Zeus, the Gingerbread-powered Android phone now appears in two very clear videos that reaffirm several rumored features. Moreover, we can now clearly see a PlayStation app that appears to be the device’s gateway into a PlayStation-branded gaming experience. While no games are installed on the device depicted in the videos, the PlayStation app shows a series of tabs that organize games into various lists such as “Recently Played” and “Recently Added.” There is also a search feature and what appears to be a shortcut to the PlayStation game store. Rumors suggest Sony Ericsson may announce the device later this month. Hit the break for the videos.

There is no way this phone can even compete with the web os platform (that I invented and designed) it will trump android, and the iphone though!

So according to you it will trump itself seeing as it is an Android phone… brilliant.

no dummy.. webOS is Palm not Android

I would recommend searching 2 things:
        1. R.I.F.
        2. Illiteracy

Also, I suggest a name change… the genius portion = FAIL.

yup I myself and with a Pre Plus (converted for sprint) and having used Android, WM, Iphone etc it is by lonnnnnng far the best OS on the market. With HP’s captial behind it now, and Foxconn making 5 different smartphones next year (same company who produces the iphone), and the Ipad people will soon realize what a superior OS looks like. Not a corny knock off WM like in android, or a boring simplistic OS like the Apples Iphone. In one years time Webos will be running things mark my words.

        HP/Palm for the record

Dude, dont worry, looks a bad example of HP gurilla marketing or some crap loke that

Told ya norm, this is going to be bigger than your iphone, even though you act like you are using a Droid. Look at the user base for playstation. This will be a bigger hit to apple than the iphone on Verizon will be to android. Count on it.

What exactly did you tell me? DROID DOES is what I’ve been telling everyone. Since just about everyone in the world prefers Sony’s gaming systems over, oh say, the Nintendo DS, this will just own. DROID DOES as usual. And I have never owned a crApple product and never intend to unless they load on the DROID OS.

The device is quite thick, pocket-unfriendly.

What carrier will it be released on? My guess since it’s Sony Ericsson it’ll be AT&T?

    • http://twitter.com/STCtech Ed

If I was a betting man I’d say a GSM carrier.

  • WT

So how long after the release will someone grab the apk and release it to all android users?

  • MyPhoneCaptivates

The OS on this thing looks kinda clunky.

It’s intriguing, on a theoretical level. On the other hand… a PSP with no joysticks? I remember being bitter when the PSP only had one joystick.

The only way I could ever see myself getting one of those is if I picked up a 32GB microSD card and decided that I need a fuck-ton of NES/SNES/Genesis emulation in my life. With the shoulder buttons, it would be fantastic for that.

    • Seanyboi08

it has touch pads in place of joysticks

I know what were they thinking not putting a second analog stick on psp. What a missed opportunity

Boy Genius comments are by far some of the worst on the web. I would say maybe a distant second behind Youtube. I think if we pull together as a team we can make this site number one. What do you say?

or failblog. The whole comments section is littered with unrelated BS like this:
        *writes comment to Oye Consolte!*
        *giggles*

And totally random jokes that only make sense to those that frequent forums on a daily basis…

figure of speech dumbass, same as saying you want one. stop being a douche.

This is the next step in the convergence of mobile devices. Recent smartphone developments have integrated internet, apps, messaging, music, and even video chat, but now one of the last incorporations is being implemented: a full gaming system. Soon, people will not need any other devices other than their mobile phone, as they will be able to carry with them every electronic need they could possibly desire. It is important, though, that the device has enough memory and processing power to provide adequate ease of use so as to not sacrifice performance for convenience.

I like how they added two thumb joysticks using a capacitive touch area in the middle. Smart.
